Closing Ceremony of the Official Survey to serve the External Assessment of 6 Undergraduate Programs in 2023

On October 21, 2023, the closing ceremony of the official survey to serve the external assessment of 6 undergraduate programs was formally organized at Van Lang University. The assessment experts provided positive feedback on the training quality of 06 majors, and also offered valuable recommendations for VLU’s development.

Sau 05 ngày khảo sát chính thức (17 – 21/10/2023), Đoàn chuyên gia Đánh giá ngoài của Trung tâm Kiểm định Chất lượng giáo dục Sài Gòn triển khai các hoạt động kiểm tra, đánh giá hồ sơ minh chứng, phỏng vấn cán bộ, giảng viện, sinh viên, khảo sát cơ sở vật chất,… nhằm đưa ra đánh giá khách quan về tiêu chuẩn chất lượng của 06 chương trình đào tạo trình độ đại học: ngành Quan hệ Công chúng, ngành Văn học, ngành Đông phương học, ngành Tâm lý học, ngành Luật Kinh tế, ngành Kỹ thuật Phần mềm. 

After the official survey in 05 days (October 17 - 21, 2023), the external assessment experts from the Saigon Centre For Educational Quality Accreditation conducted quality assurance activities, review the self-assessment records and evidence records, interviewing staff, lecturers, students, inspecting facilities, etc. in order to provide an objective assessment of the quality standards of 06 undergraduate programs: Public Relations, Literature, Oriental Studies, Psychology, Economics Law, and Software Engineering. 

On October 21, 2023, the closing ceremony of the official survey to serve the external assessment of 6 undergraduate programs was formally organized at VLU’s main campus. The experts provided feedback on the strengths and training quality of 06 majors, and also offered valuable recommendations for VLU’s development.

The experts assessed the training quality of 06 majors at Van Lang University based on the Ministry of Education and Training's set of standards, which includes 11 standards and 50 criteria (according to AUN-QA version 3.0) and is divided into standard groups on curriculum, training activities, resources, and outcomes.

The survey highlighted specific and positive data about the employment of VLU alumni from 6 majors, especially Software Engineering, which accounts for a 92% employment rate for graduates with an average salary of 15 million VND/month. Dr. Nguyen Kim Dung, Honored Artist, Director of The Saigon Centre For Educational Quality Accreditation, and Head of the Assessment Team, highly appreciates Van Lang University’s high employment rates for alumni across majors, who are well-received and positively evaluated by employers, which confirms the university's educational quality and management direction.

During the ceremony, the external assessment experts reported evaluation results of the 11 standards of 06 majors. For each standard, in addition to highlighting common and specific strengths of each major, they proposed useful recommendations for the university and faculties. The delegation of experts is particularly impressed by Van Lang’s educational philosophy, as well as the investment in modern equipment and facilities, creating a high-quality environment for learners.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu, President of Van Lang University, expressed her gratitude for the experts' comments and recommendations and emphasized VLU's commitment to continuous improvement and investment in facilities to ensure quality assurance in accordance with Vietnamese and international standards: "We are consistent with the quality culture at Van Lang, not just for external evaluations but as an ongoing and continuous effort. Van Lang University is aware that sustainable development can only be achieved with a commitment to quality in education. Our curriculum varies in quality levels, and this is still our concern. We strive to ensure that all our programs satisfy our learners and that they see value in their years spent at the university.” Furthermore, she acknowledged feedback from external assessment experts, suggesting practical solutions for this academic year.
