On January 17, 2025, Van Lang University solemnly welcomed His Excellency Jotham Napat, Prime Minister of the Republic of Vanuatu, along with his spouse and a senior delegation, to visit the University’s Main Campus as part of his official visit to Vietnam.
The visit holds special significance not only in ceremonial terms, but also in demonstrating the Vanuatu Government’s interest in education, the development of young human resources, and the community of Vanuatu students currently studying in Vietnam. This also marks the first time a foreign Prime Minister has visited Van Lang University, representing an important milestone in VLU’s internationalization and global cooperation efforts.

Within the program, the Prime Minister met and engaged with Vanuatu students currently studying at VLU, as well as several Vanuatu students participating in foundation courses in Ho Chi Minh City. At present, Van Lang University is providing training for Vanuatu students in a wide range of applied disciplines such as Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Architecture, Business Administration, Information Technology, and Medical Laboratory Technology, while also preparing to welcome new Vanuatu students in the near future.
In the past five years, nearly 6,000 international students from approximately 30 countries have come to exchange and study, contributing to VLU’s diverse, open, and globally integrated learning environment.


Speaking at the reception, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu – Member of the University Council and President of Van Lang University, emphasized: “Education is not only about training, but also a sustainable bridge between nations. Van Lang aspires to accompany Vanuatu in developing young human resources — individuals equipped with practical capabilities, global mindset, and a strong sense of social responsibility.”

While sharing about development orientation, it is stated that Van Lang University focuses on training high-quality human resources capable of adapting to globalization through scholarship programs, English pathways, foundation courses and practically oriented training models. Currently, VLU offers more than 100 multidisciplinary programs across eight key fields: Engineering – Technology; Law – Business and Management; Social Sciences – Humanities and Languages; Communication; Arts – Design; Architecture; Tourism; and Health Sciences. These programs are benchmarked against international standards and designed to meet learners’ needs, including Standard Programs, Honors Programs, and International Programs.



As part of the visit, H.E. Jotham Napat also participated in a commemorative tree-planting ceremony at VLU’s Main Campus - an activity symbolizing the cultivation of a long-term, sustainable educational partnership and a shared vision for the future between the two sides.
