From September 3 to 6, 2025, Van Lang University (VLU) hosted the Orientation Day K31 series, a welcome event for freshmen of Class 31. Orientation Day offered first-hand experiences to help the freshmen quickly integrate, make new friends, and shape their academic journey ahead.
During the event, students had the opportunity to meet the Board of Administrators, Deans and Vice-Deans of the Faculties, alumni, and special guests. Inspirational talks helped students better understand Van Lang University’s vision, educational philosophy, and core values, while emphasizing the importance of pursuing careers of dream, personal growth, and nurturing creativity for the future.
In this special session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu shared that university life is a journey of experience, self-discipline, and personal affirmation. She encouraged students to embrace challenges, persist in their goals, and obtain success through concrete achievements, reminding them that success stems not from luck, but from preparation and unwavering determination.
Using a visual video on artificial intelligence (AI), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu emphasized that those who know how to harness AI will have a competitive edge. However, AI is merely a tool; the key lies in students cultivating passion and working creatively to make a difference.
At VLU, students will have the chance to learn from talented lecturers, including those from prestigious global universities. One such guest speaker was Mr. Nguyen Hung Lam, who earned Master’s degrees with perfect scores from Carnegie Mellon University and Harvard University, now a lecturer in Psychology at Van Lang University. He inspired students with messages about time management, and the importance of seizing opportunities and prioritizing major goals to turn aspirations into reality.
Beyond the welcome activities, Orientation Day helped students get used to a new learning environment, connect with lecturers and peers, build solidarity, and form lasting relationships for their four-year journey.
In addition to Orientation Day, Van Lang University also organized a series of civic education sessions for freshmen. Class 31 was introduced to essential topics: academic regulations, graduation requirements, study roadmap, administrative procedures, online learning systems, and practical seminars on learning security in the 4.0 digital age. Each session provided vital information and guidance to help students develop a proactive, resilient, and responsible mindset in both academics and life.
The civic education program also instilled pride in VLU’s Student Culture, emphasizing integrity, responsibility, creativity, and collaboration. These are core values that will accompany students throughout their university journey, helping with their comprehensive development.
With the Orientation Day and Civic Education series, freshmen of Class 31 experienced a meaningful start at Van Lang University. This marks the beginning of the journey to confidently write their own stories in a dynamic, creative, and humanistic environment.
