Green Summer 2022: Van Lang youth spirit in community activities

On August 17th, 2022, the Green Summer Campaign Military Festival 2022 took place at the main campus of Van Lang University, closing the exciting journey of Van Lang's young soldiers. The campaign has attracted thousands of students to participate, contributing their youth to many meaningful projects in the city. 

The ceremony was an opportunity for members of the groups to exchange and summarize the activities experienced during the deployment. Also, at the event, Van Lang University commended more than 200 good soldiers and nearly 100 students for achieving the title of healthy young adults. They are active members and dedicate themselves to successfully completing the task in the last campaign. 

Speaking at the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu – President of Van Lang University, shared: "With enthusiasm and dynamism, the students have successfully organized many meaningful activities for the community. I hope that they will keep their enthusiasm to continue spreading this spirit to generations of Van Lang students and together build the campaign to grow more and more in the future." 

With the theme "Space Station", the Green Summer 2022 campaign of Van Lang University has launched eight groups: Environment, Painting, Young Pioneers, Entertainment, Health, Media and Communication, English Tutoring and Hostel Survey. During 1 month of operation, 1,116 soldiers actively participated in diverse community activities, contributing practical values.  

ENVIRONMENT TEAM 

• 21/07/2022: Collection of plastic waste on Van Lang University's campus and alleys at the entrance area of the Main Campus;  
• 24/07/2022: Participating in cleaning and renewing canals at Tu Vung canal (No. 398 Vuon Lai, An Phu Dong Ward, District 12) and Phan Chu Trinh Street (Ward 12, Binh Thanh District), in response to the 146th Green Sunday. 
• Propaganda to students and households around the main campus area of Van Lang University to increase the use of natural products, recycled products, and environmental protection. 

PAINTING TEAM 

• 21/07/2022: Painting walls to spread positive messages at Ward 14, Binh Thanh District.  
• Cooperating with teachers and students of the Faculty of Architecture in the project "Coloring dreams" at specialized schools in Ho Chi Minh City. 

YOUNG PIONEER TEAM 

Donating to pediatric patients at Oncology Hospital (HCMC) gifts of necessities such as cake, milk, towels,... which contains the warm affection of Van Lang students. 

ENTERTAINMENT TEAM 

• Organizing cultural exchange activities and games in the program "Summer Festival for Children 2022" in Tan Dinh Ward, District 1. 
• 07/8/2022: Participating in cultural exchanges, extracurricular activities with children at Ky Quang 2 Pagoda, Go Vap District. 
• 11/8/2022: Organizing acoustic music night "Duong Thoi", spreading the spirit of youth and beautiful youth. 

HEALTH TEAM 

• Participating in volunteer cooking, exchanging with veterans in Binh Thanh District on Martyrs' Day - 27/7. 
• 05/8/2022: Organizing workshop "Training on first aid knowledge in common emergency cases."  
• 07/8/2022: Organizing physical testing activities for Van Lang Green Summer Campaign ‘Soldiers’. 
• 08/8/2022: Equipping knowledge on first aid at Anh Sang orphanage, District 3. 

ENGLISH TUTOR TEAM 

• Offering free lessons on English for students of Van Lang Secondary School (51 Tran Quy Khoach St., Tan Dinh Ward, District 1) and children at Cultural House in Ward 4, Binh Thanh District. 
• In addition to teaching English for free, in August 2022, the English tutor team made paper lanterns and organized the Mid-Autumn Festival for children in the class they were teaching. 

HOSTEL SURVEY TEAM 

From 26/7/2022, the team contacted rooms for rent, dormitories, serviced apartments and gathered available information about lovely and suitable accommodations for Van Lang students. This is the squad that Van Lang has maintained for many campaign seasons. 

MEDIA AND COMMUNICATION TEAM 

The members always worked side by side with other teams to make articles and design images on the fan page of Van Lang University Student Association, updating news about the Green Summer campaign in 2022 of Van Lang ‘soldiers’. 

The Green Summer 2022 campaign closed with a variety of feelings. The good memories of participating in the Campaign will surely be imprinted in each member’s mind and will be a beautiful memory on the journey of contributing youth to society, spreading positive values to the community.
