On March 27, 2025, the Faculty of Environment – Van Lang University hosted the workshop “The Art of Recycling – Painting a Green Future”, aimed at helping students explore the waste recycling process, ignite their creativity, and spread the green living message across the Van Lang community.
Between 2023 and 2028, Van Lang University is implementing practical policies to promote the sustainable use and reuse of resources, while also encouraging responsible consumption within the university. As part of the “Green School” Project, this workshop contributes to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
In his opening speech, Dr. Le Minh Truong – lecturer at the Faculty of Environment – emphasized that in today’s context, socio-economic development activities must go hand-in-hand with environmental protection and sustainable development. “The program not only focuses on recovery, recycling, reuse, and plastic alternatives, but also lays the groundwork for an ecosystem of green actions. The small actions of students today will be recognized and amplified into universal values for the community and society.”
Mr. Nguyen Trong Minh – CEO of Grac Technology Corporation – shared: “By applying modern technology, the waste treatment sector can be further advanced toward a future of recycling and circular economy - where no waste is discharged into the environment. To achieve this, in addition to collaboration with professional units in digital transformation and waste digitization, each student must be a ‘seed’ that spreads awareness and action in recycling.”
Ms. Ha Phan Kim Nguyet – Founder of Upgreen Vietnam – stated: “Through design and cultural applications, we hope this activity will inspire young people, especially those who love art and the environment. We can contribute to environmental protection through small, creative, and accessible actions.”
Throughout the event, participants not only had the chance to engage in direct Q&A sessions about plastic waste recycling processes with leading enterprises, but also experienced painting on products made entirely from recycled plastic.
The program helped raise awareness among Van Lang University students about environmental responsibility, while affirming the university’s commitment to building a green, clean, and sustainable society.
