Workshop FIBAA Institutional Accreditation at Van Lang University

On 5-6 July 2022, Van Lang University in collaboration with FIBAA (Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation), a prestigious international accrediting organization with its headquarter in Germany and a representative office in Switzerland organized a training workshop on the process and standards for institutional accreditation according to FIBAA standards. FIBAA has been recognized by the Ministry of Education and Training to operate in Vietnam under Decision No. 1940/QD-BGDDT dated June 16, 2021.

The workshop welcomed the presence of FIBAA representatives: Ms. Diane Freiberger (MBA) - Managing Director, Ms. Viktoria Dermanowski - Head of International Procedures, and Ms. Anja Gleissner - Project Manager. Participants of Van Lang University include Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu - President, Dr. Nguyen Huu Cuong – Manager of the Quality Assurance Department, MSc. Tran Ngoc Hanh – Deputy Manager of the Quality Assurance Department, members of the Self-Assessment Council and nearly 300 officers, lecturers, and support staff members.  

During the two-day workshop, FIBAA experts introduced FIBAA accrediting organization; presented the analysis of the accreditation standards; instructed how to write a report and submit the self-assessment report; the process and profile need to be prepared when implementing the external evaluation; topics of interviews with each target group. Through the guidance and analysis of FIBAA experts, it shows that most of Van Lang University's activities are compatible with FIBAA's accreditation criteria. This confirms the processes of quality assurance, curriculum development, scientific management; teaching and learning, testing and assessment methods; teaching staff; the facilities and equipment of the Van Lang University have approached international quality standards. 

The workshop helped the managerial staff, teachers, and support staff of Van Lang University understand more about FIBAA standards and procedure for institutional accreditation. This will be important preparation for VLU to conduct self-assessment, write a self-assessment report and prepare a profile, evidence to register and apply for FIBAA accreditation.

The reason FIBAA is widely recognized in the world is its strictness and high requirements of accreditation criteria such as: the quality of the teaching staff, curriculum design, facilities, quality of educational service, practical applicability, and quality of learners. Therefore, universities and programs receiving FIBAA quality seal will have more opportunities for their students and academic staff to be in academic exchange and collaborate with higher education institutions in Europe and around the world.
