On October 18, 2025, in a solemn and emotional atmosphere, the first-year Medicine students of Class 31 at Van Lang University officially donned their white coats—a symbol of professionalism and medical ethics. The ceremony served as a meaningful occasion to inspire each student about the noble mission they will carry throughout the six-year journey of study and training ahead.

Sharing with Class 31, People’s Physician, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Viet Hong, Chairman of the Faculty Council of the Faculty of Medicine, emphasized that the White Coat Ceremony is a long-standing and meaningful tradition in the medical profession. This ritual marks an important transition for students in the health sciences—from high school graduates to individuals embarking on a path devoted to community healthcare. Upon completing their studies, students will participate in the Commencement and take the Hippocratic Oath—a sacred tradition that affirms the responsibility and dedication of medical practitioners.

Dr. Hong reminded the new students of the road ahead: “Six years of study will be challenging but full of pride as you work toward becoming physicians. You must cultivate both professional knowledge and medical ethics, so that when you graduate, you become doctors who are both highly competent and compassionate, just as President Ho Chi Minh taught: A good physician must be like a gentle mother.”
Representing the new students of Class 31, Ta Minh Ky shared his heartfelt emotions: “Today, we officially put on the white coat under the pride of our families. For us, the white coat is not only a symbol of the medical profession, but also marks the moment we step beyond being students and begin learning how to heal. Its color will remind us every day of the great responsibility we carry.”

Tears of joy, warm embraces, and encouragement from family and friends became a powerful source of motivation, empowering the new students as they embark on a meaningful new chapter.
