Welcoming the Delegation from Nghe An University of Economics to Van Lang University

On the afternoon of September 21, 2024, Van Lang University (VLU) had the honor of welcoming a delegation from Nghe An University of Economics (NAUE) for a study visit aimed at sharing experiences and best practices. The visit focused on sharing expertise across key areas, including academic training, international collaborations, scientific research, human resource management, and student admissions. The delegation also had the opportunity to tour VLU’s state-of-the-art facilities.

The NAUE delegation was led by Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Hieu, President of NAUE, and other members including Dr. Dang Thi Thao, Head of the Administrative and Organizational Department; Dr. Do Ngoc Dai, Head of the Training, Science Management, and International Cooperation Department; Mr. Nguyen Dinh Ha, Head of Facilities Management Department; and Mrs. Nguyen Van Thuy, Head of the Foreign Language Department.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu, President of VLU, alongside key university members including Mr. Nguyen Chi Hieu, Chief of Staff of the Office of Presidents; Mr. Vu Quang Ha, Deputy Head of the Academic Affairs Department; Mrs. Le Thi Minh Tam, Partnership and Engagement Department; Mrs. Tran Ngoc Hanh, Deputy Head of the Quality Assurance Department, and representatives from other departments.

In his remarks, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Hieu expressed that, as a relatively young university, NAUE was eager to learn from institutions with a wealth of experience like VLU. He admired VLU’s impressive development journey and hoped that the visit would provide valuable insights for shaping NAUE’s future direction and creating an ideal learning environment for its students.

In her speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu emphasized the need for each university to determine their developmental orientations based on their unique circumstances and stages of growth. She reaffirmed VLU’s commitment to creating positive impacts through strategic investments in human resources, aiming to build a strong workforce that ensures the quality of education aligns with both national and international standards. Furthermore, she highlighted that the University focuses on equitable work distribution through the transparent implementation of the KPI system, which promotes rational workload allocation. Clearly defining job roles for lecturers, staff, and department heads is also a priority of the University, as this supports effective career development for individuals within VLU’s community.

During the working session, representatives from VLU shared their experiences across a range of fields, particularly in those related to university rankings. With VLU’s achievements in international rankings, such as the QS Stars Ratings & Rankings and THE Impact Ranking, VLU emphasized that participation in these rankings is not solely for recognition, but also serves as a valuable opportunity for learning and improvement. Additionally, this approach is an essential way to strengthen institutional resources and enhance stakeholder trust in the University.

At the end of the meeting, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Hieu expressed his heartfelt gratitude to VLU’s leadership. He shared that NAUE had gained valuable insights into building measurement systems, identifying international cooperation needs, and guiding future research development. Dr. Hieu also expressed hope that the cooperative relationship between the two universities would continue to grow, facilitating mutual support in improving educational quality and promoting sustainable development.

After the meeting, the NAUE delegation toured several of VLU’s modern facilities, including the library, dormitories, sports complex, practice rooms, laboratories, the newsroom convergence, and the large lecture hall in Building J.

Both universities concluded the visit with a sense of satisfaction and optimism for future collaboration. This visit not only enabled NAUE to benefit from VLU’s valuable experiences in training, scientific research, and community service, but it also laid the foundation for a sustainable partnership aimed at fostering innovation and enhancing educational quality at both institutions. This connection is expected to lead to broad-ranging collaborative projects that will drive educational innovation and progress, aligned with the goal of sustainable development and international integration.
