With a commitment to enhancing convenience and promoting sustainable development within the community, Van Lang University has installed a network of free drinking water dispensers on every floor of its three campuses.

On average, the dispensers serve approximately 1,000 to 2,000 users daily, primarily students seeking access to clean drinking water. During the hot season, from late April to early June, this number surges to an estimated 4,000 to 5,000 daily visits, highlighting the dispensers' vital role in providing hydration during peak heat.

According to 2022 statistics, the University has strategically placed between 20 to 50 water dispensers in each building to meet the needs of lecturers, staff, and students across VLU. To maintain high water quality, the University conducts regular inspections and maintenance of the dispensing systems. This includes cleaning the filtration cores and taking samples for analysis to ensure compliance with Ministry of Health regulations outlined in Circular No. 50/2015/TT-BYT, which governs the hygiene and quality of drinking water. The University adheres to the national technical standards QCVN 6-1: 2010/BYT for natural mineral water and bottled drinking water.

The widespread placement of water dispensers, combined with the encouragement for individuals to carry their own water containers, plays a significant role in environmental protection by reducing plastic waste. Since the introduction of the free drinking water dispensers, the daily routine of Van Lang University’s members has shifted to bringing personal water bottles to refill throughout the day, minimizing their reliance on single-use plastic bottles.

The University encourages all members to collaborate in preserving the water filtration system on campus. Each individual is urged to use water sparingly, maintain cleanliness in the water dispensing areas, and utilize their own cups or bottles to prevent the risk of exposure to pathogens.

By fostering a culture of sustainability and responsible water usage, VLU not only meets the hydration needs of the community but also contributes to broader environmental goals, encouraging a healthy and eco-friendly environment within the campus.
