VLU International Program Students Experience Multinational Study in Malaysia and Singapore

From May 13 to May 17, 2025, students from Class 30 of the International Education Institute (IEI) at Van Lang University participated in the "Going Global Study Tour 2025" experiential learning trip in Malaysia and Singapore. The tour's theme was "Prospects of AI and Sustainable Development." This program was an extracurricular activity for the "Developing Diversity and Cultural Intelligence Skills" course, designed for students in IEI's International Bachelor program.

Going Global Study Tour is a multi-dimensional learning journey, students not only expand their professional knowledge but also develop global skills, enhancing adaptability in a multicultural academic and social environment. At the same time, the program also contributes to realizing two sustainable development goals of the United Nations: Ensuring quality education (SDG 4), Developing sustainable cities and communities (SDG 11).

Students gain hands-on experience at the Royal Selangor Pewter Factory, learning how Malaysia maintains traditional craftsmanship while incorporating technological innovation.

In Malaysia, students are exposed to local culture through creative activities such as making handmade Batik bags, visiting iconic urban developments such as the Petronas Twin Towers, and exploring the ancient city of Melaka - a place where many layers of Western culture are interwoven. These experiences help students better understand how a country can develop modernity while still preserving its cultural identity and historical heritage.

The visit to UniKL University helps IEI students access international knowledge, better understand educational innovation in the digital age, towards quality and equitable education.

During the trip, Van Lang students participated in an international exchange program with Malaysian students, sharing the beauty of culture and tradition between the two countries. They attended a seminar on “Application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Higher Education”, thereby understanding more about the role of technology in innovating modern teaching and learning methods.

Students visit Singapore Institute of Management (SIM), learn about the modern learning environment and update trends in the Business - Finance industry.

In Singapore – a country famous for its green urban planning and high-quality education, students visited the Singapore Institute of Management (SIM), attended a seminar on trends in the Business - Finance industry, thereby understanding more about career opportunities and necessary competencies in the global labor market. At the same time, students also learned about green urban strategies through iconic landmarks such as Merlion Park, Sustainable Singapore Gallery, Jewel Changi Airport, etc.

Going Global Study Tour 2025 is an academic journey combined with practical experience, creating conditions for Van Lang students to step out of their comfort zone, practice adaptability, communication and understanding of cultural diversity. Through the trip, students are inspired by sustainable development thinking and prepared to become global citizens, responsible and oriented towards the common development of society.
