VLU Fashion Design Student Crowded Winner at Sieu 2025 Competition

On May 18, 2025, at the SR Celebrating Local Pride Season 9 fashion showcase - a prestigious platform honoring Vietnamese cultural values - Nguyen Ngoc Dong A, a third-year student majoring in Fashion Design, was named Champion of the SIEU 2025 competition. The contest was jointly organized by HANGSILK and the Fashion Design Program, Faculty of Arts & Design, Van Lang University.

Held from April 15 to May 18, 2025, SIEU 2025 featured four rigorous rounds, assessing candidates on concept ideation (moodboards, direction boards), material handling, presentation ability, and final product execution. Standing out from a pool of talented contestants, Dong A impressed the jury with the collection “Rubik Mirror”, which demonstrated sophisticated aesthetics, technical excellence, and bold innovation in line with the competition’s theme of “SIEU”. 

Inspired by the Rubik’s Cube - a symbol of transformation and multifaceted perspectives - the collection skillfully integrated silk (signifying softness and femininity) with silver (representing resilience and inner strength). This fusion of seemingly opposing materials resulted in a harmoniously powerful collection that embodied the boundary-pushing spirit of SIEU 2025.

This accomplishment not only reflects the designer’s personal growth but also affirms the high quality of Van Lang University’s Fashion Design training. With a focus on real-world practice, individual creativity, and global integration, VLU continuously strives to nurture future-ready designers capable of competing on international stages.
