To equip students with self-awareness skills and a sustainable development roadmap, on December 28, 2025, the Faculty of Environment at Van Lang University held a seminar titled “Connect — Know Yourself — Break Through.” The program was designed as a journey to help students unlock their potential through three core pillars: Know Yourself — Learn Right — Live With Discipline. The event attracted a large turnout of students and featured experienced speakers from various fields.
During the event, Ms. Pham Thien Vu, a lecturer at Van Lang University and an attorney, offered an in-depth perspective on applying the DISC and Numerology models to better understand personal strengths. She emphasized that understanding one’s personality not only improves social relationships but also serves as a foundation for self-leadership before leading others.

By analyzing the four personality types — Dominance, Influence, Steadiness, and Compliance — Ms. Pham Thien Vu showed students how to adjust their behaviors for more effective interactions in the workplace. In addition, Numerology was introduced as a reference tool to recognize innate strengths and weaknesses and to find the most suitable environments for personal growth.
In the session on learning methods, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Huyen, a recipient of the 2025 Australian Government full scholarship for a Master’s program, dispelled the common misconception about “aptitude” in learning English. She highlighted the “three-legged stool” model comprising: Motivation, Ability, and Opportunity. According to her, students need to clearly define their goals by answering the question “Why?”. She also recommended leveraging modern technological tools such as ChatGPT for daily communication practice and encouraged students to proactively build networks through professional communities on social media. Creating an immersive language environment, she noted, is the key to ensuring that efforts are not wasted.

Wrapping up the talk show, Mr. Dang The Duy, an IT company manager and content creator of the TikTok channel “Chuyện Của Duy,” shared a practical insight into the power of discipline. He affirmed that discipline starts with the smallest commitments to oneself rather than grand gestures. Drawing on his experiences of running and working in the United States, he noted that discipline not only improves physical well-being but also enhances productivity and personal income. His message, “Do what you don’t like to achieve what you want,” resonated strongly with the audience, motivating students to step out of their comfort zones.

The event became even more dynamic when students had the opportunity to directly ask speakers about overcoming procrastination and shaping career paths within the environmental sector.

The “Connect — Know Yourself — Break Through” seminar served as a skills-orientated event that brought together experts from the fields of Law, Business, Technology, and International Education. It offered diverse perspectives and helped Environmental students gain greater confidence in facing the challenges of the digital era.
