With the mission of minimizing fashion waste, raising environmental awareness, and fostering creativity from old clothes and fabric scraps, the Faculty of Arts and Design at Van Lang University organized the Re-join exhibition on January 15, 2025. The exhibition showcased 50 interior and fashion pieces, all crafted from old garments, offering a fresh and innovative perspective on the fashion industry.
Re-join is a creative project initiated by faculty members and students from the Fashion Design program under the Faculty of Arts and Design. The 2024 edition of the project returned with the participation of 120 students from the Fashion Design and Interior Design programs, delivering a powerful message about the faculty’s commitment to sustainable fashion education and practice, closely connecting with the community and society.
Students not only explored creative methodologies such as Design Thinking and Collage Art but also had the opportunity to experiment and produce new designs without harming the environment. These creations not only help reduce textile waste but also unlock boundless creative possibilities.
Pham Luong Gia Ngoc, a Course 29 student majoring in Fashion Design, shared that Re-join was a valuable opportunity to prepare for the “Textile Materials” course. Through the project, she worked with a variety of fabrics and textures, expanding her creative capacity and material-handling skills in fashion design.
Lecturer Pham Minh Tam from the Fashion Design program noted that this year’s Re-join project differed from previous editions: “Instead of organizing a fashion show, this time, students had the opportunity to create an exhibition and engage in direct sales. Visitors could not only admire the designs up close but also purchase them right at the exhibition.”
The Re-join exhibition was not only a gathering place for talented designers but also a symbol of innovation and collaboration, introducing groundbreaking and inspiring solutions for environmental protection and sustainability in the fashion industry.
