Van Lang University students are no strangers to event organization. However, the “Event Organization & Management” course at the Faculty of Business Administration offers a distinctive learning experience to achieve the aim of preparing future managers. In this course, 200 students from the Faculty of Business Administration and the Faculty of Public Relations – Communications recently held 4 unique art events. These events aimed to promote traditional culture and honor individuals' moral character.

Regarding the reason for incorporating this module into the curriculum, PhD. Tran Duc Tai, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration, explained, “Events are a crucial part of any agency, organization, or business. This module will enable students to utilize management skills such as human resources management, financial management, operations management, crisis management, and decision-making, while also enhancing their teamwork, creative thinking, and organizational skills to ensure successful events.

To organize to a successful event, students will have to acquire important professional knowledge, from which to build a detailed plan from the preparation, communication, personnel, build operational timelines, seek sponsors and patrons, contact third parties and guests, organize the event, and finally conduct a post-event evaluation to draw lessons from the event.

The special aspect of these events is the student’s success in raising funds. After the events, they donated some or all of the money to charity projects such as the Vietnam Breast Cancer Network, the S-Seed Fund (supporting children who lost their parents during the Covid-19 pandemic), Thi Nghe Support Center for Disabled Orphans, and  Phuc Lam Shelter in Long Thanh, Dong Nai. This shows that students not only did well in this course but also successfully shared meaningful messages and values with the community.

In addition to providing invaluable experiences for each student involved, this series of events has left a lasting impact on the audience, while spreading positive values to the community. It has fostered a spirit of learning and responsibility towards preserving and promoting national cultural identity. These activities have played a role in shaping a generation of dynamic, creative, and compassionate young people, who are expected to continue this positive influence and inspire future generations of students to contribute good values to the community.

VLU Class-Zoom is a video series that is broadcast every Saturday at 7P on Van Lang University’s official fanpage and Youtube channel. The goal of this series is to explore the distinctive courses, teaching and learning  methods from various fields at Van Lang University, helping students gain practical values and motivation to pursue their majors.
