Van Lang University Welcomes the Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Ho Chi Minh City

On March 18, 2025, Van Lang University had the honor of welcoming the Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Ho Chi Minh City for a visit and working session. This meeting provided an opportunity for both parties to exchange information, explore potential collaboration in education, research, and cultural exchange, and mark a new milestone in their bilateral relations.

At the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu, President of Van Lang University, emphasized that Korean influence at the university is not only evident in the Korean Language major but also in various other departments. A notable example is the long-standing cooperation with South Korean training programs within the Faculty of Arts & Design. Each year, the university organizes multiple cultural and artistic exchange events, fostering connections between Vietnamese and Korean multinational families. On this occasion, Van Lang University also expressed its deep gratitude to the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Ho Chi Minh City for its continuous support and contributions to the university’s development.

Mr. Shin Choong-il, Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Ho Chi Minh City, expressed his honor in visiting Van Lang University on the occasion of its 30th anniversary. He affirmed: “These meaningful activities have contributed to Van Lang University’s continuous growth, and I firmly believe the institution will further expand and thrive in the future.” He also highly appreciated the efforts of the Faculty of Korean Language and Culture in strengthening the connection between the Consulate General and Van Lang University. Moreover, he expressed his desire to continue fostering a sustainable cooperative relationship between Vietnam and South Korea.

As part of the event, VLU students had the opportunity to engage in direct discussions with the delegation from the Consul General of the Republic of Korea, exploring educational and career development opportunities in South Korea. During the exchange session, Mr. Shin Choong-il showed great interest in the students’ inquiries, particularly concerning visa challenges for studying in South Korea. Recognizing Van Lang University’s student-centered approach, the Consul General encouraged students’ passion for learning and expressed his hopes that they would contribute as high-quality human resources to Korean enterprises and the global labor market.
