Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu encourages students to view scientific research as the first step toward turning ideas into real-world projects.

In her opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu, President of Van Lang University, emphasized that scientific research is a crucial starting point for students to develop practical projects: “From research outcomes, students can develop real-world projects, and the University is ready to provide funding to help them implement these ideas. What matters most is that students take their choices seriously, build scientifically grounded arguments, and persist with determination”.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Kim Oanh outlines research management regulations to help students understand the registration, evaluation, and approval process.

During the regulatory overview, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Kim Oanh, Head of the Department of Research Development and Dean of the Faculty of Environment, presented a comprehensive framework for managing university-level student research projects. Students gained clarity on eligibility, participation numbers, reward criteria, violation handling, and the registration-to-approval process. Proposal evaluations are based on eight components and nine scoring criteria. They were also guided through the system of templates used throughout registration, implementation, and approval process to facilitate research procedures.

Using a practical example from a specific research project, Dr. Nguyen Dang Khoa illustrates how to develop a scientific proposal, from identifying the research rationale to outlining the implementation methodology.

Dr. Nguyen Dang Khoa, Lecturer at the Faculty of Environment, shared practical experience in developing research topics and writing proposals. He advised students to clearly define the rationale for their research, detail their outlines, and ask five key questions to cultivate unique ideas. He also emphasized core principles such as creativity, scientific rigor, academic integrity, and passion for research.

Mr. Le Chi Thanh shares insights on commercializing ideas and transforming research outcomes into viable startup products.

Mr. Le Chi Thanh, Student Startup Advisor at Van Lang Incubation Center, offered perspectives on the commercialization potential of research products. He posed a central question: “Who is the target audience of the project and what value does it bring?” – guiding students on how to orient their commercialization strategies. He introduced the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) scale, compared it with Market Readiness, and highlighted essential factors such as intellectual property rights, finding pilot partners, and scaling up production. Van Lang University’s startup incubation program serves as a support system to help students gradually transform research results into feasible products.
