Van Lang University students participate in the 2023 Asian Student Football Tournament
On the morning of August 30, 2023, the Vietnamese student team formally held the departure ceremony to prepare for the journey to compete internationally at the 2023 Asian Student Football Championship. Van Lang University is especially honored to have 7 talented individuals participating in the team representing the country.
The Asian University Football Confederation organizes the 2023 Asian Student Football Championship, with the participation of 8 representatives from Korea, Japan, China, Malaysia, Oman, Philippines, and Vietnam. In particular, Japan, and Korea contributed 2 representatives to attend.
The Vietnamese student team consists of 27 members, with 18 selected players who are students from universities: Van Lang University, Binh Duong University of Economics- Technology, and Dong Nai Technology University. Van Lang University is honored to have 7 talented sports seeds participating in the team including Bui Anh Vu - Course 26 student of the Faculty of Commerce, Tran Gia Trung Kien - Course 28 student of the Faculty of Finance and Banking, Nguyen Lam Son - Course 27 student of the Faculty of Commerce, Nguyen Thanh Luan - Course 27 student of the Faculty of Business Administration, Do Huu Trung Chien - Course 27 student of the Faculty of Business Administration, Ngo Nhat Truong - Course 28 student of the Faculty of Business Administration, Phan Quoc Thang - Course 26 student of the Faculty of Engineering Information Technology.
The Vietnamese student team had spent over 2 months concentrating on training to prepare for the tournament, under the guidance of head coach Nguyen Hoang Minh and assistant coach Nguyen Vo Hoang Phu who also coaches Van Lang University Football team. Mr. Nguyen Vo Hoang Phu shared: “Until now, the professional preparation is almost 90% complete. The coaching staff and all players have put in immense effort for over 2 months of training to ensure the team's skill, tactical, and physical preparation is top-notch.”
The 2023 Asian Student Football Championship is scheduled to take place from September 7th to 13th, 2023 in Taebaek City (Korea). According to the plan, on September 5, 2023, members of the Vietnamese student team officially attended the tournament.
About the goal of the tournament, Mr. Nguyen Vo Hoang Phu shared: “It is a great honor for us to represent the colors of the Vietnamese flag at this tournament. Besides great pride, there was immense pressure, especially when most players participate in a big tournament like this for the first time. However, with the attention of the leadership and the long preparation process, we are determined to create good impressions and bring a positive image of Vietnamese students in the eyes of foreigners."
