On August 29, 2023, Van Lang University in collaboration with Kangwon National University organized a farewell ceremony for Van Lang University students heading to Korea for the fall semester for a study exchange program.
Since the MOU signed in October 2021, Van Lang University and Kangwon National University (South Korea) have been collaborating on many activities that offer benefits to students.
After the 2023 Spring Semester, students of the VLU’s Faculty of Korean Language and Culture will continue their exchange program in South Korea with the Kangwon National University during the upcoming Fall semester. Specifically, five students will participate in a short-term exchange program for 1 or 2 semesters, with a 100% tuition fee waiver at Kangwon National University, and engage in many exciting international activities. The participating students in this exchange program include four students from Course 27, Faculty of Korean Language and Culture: Nguyen Dinh Thuan, Nguyen Thai Hoa, Nguyen Thi Hoai Phuong, Nguyen Thi Phuong Trang, and one student from Course 26, Faculty of Public Relations and Communications, Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao.
Additionally, joining the students on this trip is Doan Thi Kim Loc, an alumni of Oriental Studies from Course 23 and the secretary of VLU’s Faculty of Korean Language and Culture. She has received a government scholarship for a Master’s degree program at Kangwon National University and will also begin her studies in September.
Before bidding farewell, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu, President of Van Lang University, shared her thoughts: “This journey is a precious opportunity. Today’s achievements are the result of the hard work of the lecturers who have established a highly prestigious image for Van Lang University. “A day on the road gains you a sieve's-worth of wisdom”, stepping out of your comfort zone to explore the world, I hope all of you can go as far as possible to gain experience, understanding and knowledge. I hope that you will bring the beautiful images of the departments, Van Lang University, and Vietnamese people to international friends. Wishing everyone a meaningful and memorable journey.”
On behalf of the exchange student delegation, Doan Thi Kim Loc emotionally shared: “Throughout four years of study, and two years of work, Van Lang University has always been there and has become an indispensable part of my youth. I am deeply grateful and proud to choose Van Lang University. I will always strive not only to fulfill my educational dreams, but also to come back and contribute to Van Lang University in the future. The journey ahead may have its challenges, but I believe that with the support of my family and VLU, I can overcome them all.”
As the third course participating in the exchange program between Van Lang University and Kangwon National University (South Korea) since the MOU was signed, the increasing number of students serves as an evidence of the program’s effectiveness and appeals to students. It also illustrates the strong and sustainable relationship between Van Lang University and prestigious educational institutions worldwide.
