Van Lang University Students Enthusiastically Participate in the Talkshow "Preparing Young People for their Journey in the VUCA World”

Organized by the Student Success Center and the Library of Van Lang University in collaboration with Times Science and Education Publishing Joint Stock Company on October 22, 2024, the event attracted hundreds of students.

The talkshow featured a distinguished panel of speakers, including Dr. Tran Si Chuong, a renowned expert in economics and business development strategy and author of "Conversation with Gen Z"; Mr. Vu Trong Dai, Director of  Times Science and Education Publishing Joint Stock Company; and was moderated by MSc. Ngo Cao Hoai Linh, Director of the Student Success Center at Van Lang University.

In her opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu, President of Van Lang University, addressed the students: “You students are truly unique and have captured the attention of many, including those who have come before you. These experienced individuals are deeply committed to sharing their knowledge and expertise with you, aiming to help you accelerate your path to success.”

"You are living in the midst of a new revolution: Industry 4.0. This era is marked by constant change. However, human beings are marvels at adapting, thereby creating new opportunities, values, and assets. This allows us to innovate and achieve greater heights," Dr. Tran Si Chuong shared, reflecting on his journey of personal growth and development.

With extensive experience in various fields such as economic and financial consulting, construction, financial services, real estate investment, healthcare, education, and energy, Dr. Tran Si Chuong has founded and managed over 10 enterprises in the US and Vietnam. He has also served as an advisor to numerous universities and currently holds a leading position at 3 Horizons (UK). The book "Conversation with Gen Z" is his passion project, summarizing his valuable experiences and heartfelt advice for the young generation on careers, startups, and future orientation.

The talkshow was divided into three main parts based on the content of the book, namely: "External force for the body”, “Internal strength for the mind," "Igniting the startup spirit," and "Vietnam in the VUCA world - Looking out at the world." Through each part, the speakers shared in-depth knowledge and experiences. Besides, the lively interaction between the speakers and students with interesting questions about studying, careers, startups, etc., created a stimulating and enthusiastic learning atmosphere.

VUCA is an acronym for four characteristics of the modern world that young people are living in: Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity, describing the turbulence and rapid change, posing new demands for adaptability and innovation. That is also the main issue that the speakers discussed throughout the event.

The event has equipped Van Lang University students, especially Class 30 students, with the necessary knowledge and skills to thrive in the complexities of the VUCA world. Simultaneously, it ignited the spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation among the students, inspiring them to reach new heights and contribute to the development of a dynamic and creative young generation.
