Tran Kien Duc, a Course 27 Korean Language student, has secured the 2024 Korean Government Scholarship with excellent academic achievements and active participation in extracurricular activities. Along with three fellow students from the Faculty of Korean Language and Culture, Kien Duc will officially start his study abroad journey at the beginning of March 2024.
Following the MOU with Kangwon National University, Van Lang University and other partners have provided opportunities for numerous students majoring in Korean Language and Oriental Studies (specializing in Korean Studies) to experience studying in South Korea with 100% tuition fee scholarships for exchange semesters. The scholarship program serves as a significant encouragement for VLU students to strive harder in their academic journey.
In this fourth exchange program, the Faculty of Korean Language and Culture successfully connected four second and third-year students majoring in Korean Language with Kangwon National University: Tran Kien Duc, Nguyen Quynh Anh, Nguyen Thi Xuan Trang (Course 27) and Nguyen Bao Uyen (Course 28). Especially, Tran Kien Duc excellently secured the 2024 Global Korea Government Scholarship while Nguyen Quynh Anh received the K-PIES scholarship provided by Kangwon National University.
The 2024 Global Korean Scholarship is one of the most esteemed scholarships offered by the National Institute for International Education (NIIED), a branch of the Ministry of Education in South Korea. This scholarship program aims to support excellent international students who aspire to study and develop themselves in South Korea. Tran Kien Duc, a Course 27 student in Korean Language at VLU, has outstandingly secured the scholarship based on his language proficiency, academic achievements, participation in extracurricular activities, and a demonstrated passion for expanding the boundaries of knowledge. He will receive financial support for living expenses (approximately 630.000 KRW per month + airfare) during his 4-month study at Kangwon National University.
Nguyen Quynh Anh could not contain her joy when she received the K-PIES scholarship provided by Kangwon National University, which will fully support dormitory fees for the 4-month exchange semester. Quynh Anh shared, “Studying and experiencing Korean culture have been my dream throughout my university journey. I want to express my sincere gratitude towards my lecturers, who have supported me throughout my challenges in pursuing my dream. My goals in coming to Korea are to immerse myself in a new culture, learn more about Korean history, and experience the university’s social activities to expand my knowledge and improve myself.”
During the farewell ceremony for VLU students participating in the exchange program at Kangwon National University, Dr. Nguyen Thi Hien, Head of the Faculty of Korean Language and Culture, expressed her hope, “I hope that each student participating in the exchange program will be a representative of Van Lang University, bringing the beauty of Vietnamese culture and the VLU community to international friends; thereby, contributing to the development of relations between the two countries.
