Van Lang University signed an MOU with Thu Duc General Hospital: The event creates more quality internship opportunities for students.

On the morning of June 3, 2022, leaders of Van Lang University and the Faculty of Dentistry met and signed a cooperation agreement with The General Hospital, Thu Duc District. The two units established a sustainable cooperative relationship in training and scientific research.

Attending the MOU signing ceremony, the leadership board of Van Lang University included:

• Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu – President of the University
• Doctor Tran Ngoc Quang Phi (Ph.D.) - Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry
• Doctor Ta To Tran (Ph.D.) – Vice Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry
• Specialist Level 2 Doctor Nguyen Tan Hung (MMed.) - Head of the Operative Dentistry for Endodontics Subject  

On the side of Thu Duc General Hospital, the hospital leadership members participating in the event were:

• Doctor Cao Tan Phuoc (Ph.D.) – Director of the hospital
• Specialist Level 2 Doctor Le Minh Ky – Deputy Director of the hospital  
• Specialist Level 1 Doctor Nguyen Van Duoc, Head of the General Planning Department
• Ms. Dang Thi Le Binh (MSc.) – Head of Personnel Organization Department  
• Specialist Level 1 Nurse Nguyen Thi Anh Hue – Head of the Nursing Department  
• Specialist Level 2 Pharmacist Nguyen Thi Diem Chi - Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy
• Specialist Level 1 Doctor Truong Ngoc Than - Head of the Department of Maxillofacial Dentistry

For Van Lang University, the health sector has been received much attention in investment and development. In the near future, the university plans to open a Medical Doctor major, contributing to perfecting the training system for health care teams with good knowledge, qualified skills, and valuable contributions to the society. Collaborating with hospitals to create an internship environment, cultivate practical knowledge and grow research scientific projects is an important activity of the University’s Health majors, contributing to the creation of ethical and moral thinking, and improve the skills of future doctors. 

The Memorandum of Understanding sets forth common principles as the basis for working between Van Lang University and Thu Duc General Hospital. Regarding education, Van Lang University and Thu Duc General Hospital will coordinate training at undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, organize short-term training courses and specialized technical certification training courses. Regarding scientific technological cooperation, the two units will jointly conduct scientific research at all levels, and participate in organizing clinical research with data at the hospital practice facility.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu - President of Van Lang University stated: The University always focuses on and promotes the educational philosophy of learning through experience. Students need to have more hands-on experience during the learning process, so they can accumulate knowledge and experience for themselves in addition to the knowledge they have learned in class. The cooperation with Thu Duc General Hospital will be an appropriate condition to support the training process of students in health majors, while enhancing the relationship between the two units, opening up many opportunities for coordination in scientific research tasks at all levels. 

The MOU signing event between Van Lang University and Thu Duc General Hospital is hopefully the foundation for cooperative implementation activities in the training process and accompanying academic research between the two units. This cooperation is expected to bring many practical values to VLU's Health major students in the future.
