Van Lang University's students teach English for free to children
On July 23rd, 2022, the English Tutor Team from Van Lang University launched the 2022 Green Summer Campaign with the theme "Space Station." They participated in providing free English lessons to young children at Van Lang Secondary School (51 Tran Quy Khoach Street, Tan Dinh Ward, District 1) and the Cultural Center of Ward 4, Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City.
English has become one of the most widely spoken languages globally, serving not only as a means of communication, but also as a bridge to explore and understand the cultures of different countries. With the advancement of technology and science, the use of English has become more crucial than ever before.
As part of the 2022 Green Summer Campaign, the English tutor team, consisting of over 20 members, planned and conducted English classes for underprivileged children at Van Lang Secondary School (51 Tran Quy Khoach Street, Tan Dinh Ward, District 1) and the Cultural Center of Ward 4, Binh Thanh District. Their aim was to provide these children with closer access to foreign language learning.
Starting from July 23, 2022, the soldiers organized professional training and weekly activities to develop lesson plans for their lectures.
Due to the diverse age and proficiency levels of the students in the class, the implementation required the soldiers to invest in finding approaches to make the lessons engaging, relatable, and easy to remember. In each session, the soldiers provided materials and exercises to help the children improve their vocabulary, grammar, and practice all four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The lessons covered 18 familiar topics, such as greetings, the alphabet, hobbies, animals, school supplies, etc.
After three weeks of providing free English lessons, the English tutor soldiers from Van Lang University not only imparted valuable knowledge but also organized interactive sessions and fun activities to connect and engage the children.

It is hoped that the activities over the past three weeks will provide further motivation for you to nurture the spirit of “Wherever there is need, there are young people” and continue organizing meaningful activities for the community.
