On June 23, 2023, Van Lang University organized the graduation thesis defense for Course 25 Psychology students, with 10 theses and interesting topics that are familiar to students. This is an important event for teachers and students of the Faculty of Social Sciences & Humanities after months of being absorbed in the thesis.
The graduation thesis defense session of Course 25 in Psychology, had the participation of 02 students of Course 26 who, although studying in the lower course, had accumulated enough conditions to defend the thesis before the Council.
MSc. Tran Thu Ha - Chairman of the Council said: "Every year, students will have different directions and exploits to develop the thesis. Overall, this year they have made clear progress, had confidence, understood and answered the questions posted by the panel. During the course of making the thesis, students are also very active in developing research topics and content. They are able to shape writing style, research and select materials, how to build questionnaires, collect data... Of course, there are still limitations, students still can't really process the data and understand the meaning of the numbers. However, for the council, today's thesis defense was very successful, marking the development of students of Course 25 in Psychology".
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thao Nguyen - a Psychology student in Course 25, chose the topic "Perception and attitude of students of Van Lang University with the phenomenon of linguistic violence". Thao Nguyen shared that she chose the above topic because language violence in schools is an issue worthy of attention and focus that is no stranger to the younger generation, especially at school age. Through understanding actual situations, causes and proposing solutions, Thao Nguyen hopes to contribute to the prevention of language violence, raising the awareness of young people towards building friendly, open and loving school environments.
Although she is a student of Course 26, Nguyen Thuy Diem Thuy has successfully completed the necessary courses and her thesis early. The council found the topic "Using NEFF's tools to assess self-compassion of psychology students at Van Lang University" to be difficult and the student made progress and breakthroughs in choosing this topic. According to the instructor's comment: “Her topic is a difficult topic compared to the formal level of research topics by students. We used domestic and foreign materials to create hypotheses for research development. During the working process, Diem Thuy has shown initiative, positive attitude, and serious implementation of the topic.”

Starting from daily life, the needs of herself and her friends around mental health care, Ms. Nguyen Son Tra My conducted the topic "Factors affecting access to mental health support service for Van Lang University students." From an elaborate practice survey, Tra My presented an overview of mental health support activities at her study place, discovering strengths, weaknesses, key factors and suggesting many practical solutions. With the importance, practicality and elaboration of the topic, Tra My convinced the council and received the highest score of the graduation thesis defense.
At the graduation thesis defense session, besides the students of Course 25, many junior students also attended to encourage the spirit of the previous course. Through the presentation of the predecessor, they also learned a lot of useful experiences for their future thesis.
Congratulations to the Psychology students for successfully defending their graduation thesis, accumulating additional experiences to add to their own luggage to further develop their careers.
