On December 30, 2025, the Faculty of Civil Engineering at Van Lang University hosted an international seminar titled “Next-Gen Construction: The Power of Precast and Tilt-Up Methods” (Next-Generation Construction: The Advantages of Precast Concrete and Tilt-Up Technology). The event created a dynamic platform for in-depth exchanges on current construction technology trends, drawing strong interest from numerous experts, industry representatives, and students.

In his opening remarks at the seminar, Dr. Nguyen Hoang Tung, Vice-Dean of Faculty of Civil Engineering at Van Lang University, emphasized the event's core objective: bridging international academic knowledge with practical production realities in Vietnam. Amid the construction industry's rapid shift toward industrialization and sustainable development, he expressed hope that the seminar would open doors to innovative technologies, enabling students and engineers to grasp key solutions for optimizing resources.

Representing the business sector, Mr. Tran Dang Linh, at VGSI Pile (VGSI Prestressed Concrete Pile Co., Ltd.), provided a detailed overview of the production and construction processes for high-strength prestressed centrifugal piles. He noted that the product's value lies not only in its high level of production automation but also in ongoing research and development (R&D) efforts to continuously enhance quality. According to Mr. Tran Dang Linh, the philosophy of “increasing where it’s needed and reducing where it’s not” serves as the key to optimizing economic and technical efficiency for industrial and civil projects in Vietnam.

From an international expert's perspective, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duy Long—Professor and Dean of Faculty of Construction Management Department at Stock Development School of Engineering, U.A. Whitaker College of Engineering at Florida Gulf Coast University (USA)—introduced Tilt-Up technology, a method involving on-site casting of concrete wall panels and their erection using lifting equipment. The professor analyzed the differences between Tilt-Up and traditional precast concrete, highlighting its standout advantages in construction speed, aesthetics, and resistance to storms and earthquakes. Drawing from practical experience in the US, the speaker affirmed that although Vietnam currently lacks specific standards for Tilt-Up, the growing demand for smart warehouses and factories positions this technology as a promising application for the future.

Beyond introducing cutting-edge technological solutions, the event clearly demonstrated effective collaboration among “the University, Scientists, and Businesses.” Updating on technologies like Ultra PHC and Tilt-Up delivers practical technical value while guiding Van Lang University's young engineers toward a modern construction mindset: faster, more sustainable, and cost-optimized.
