ELIGIBLE CANDIDATES FOR TALENT SCHOLARSHIP

Van Lang University offers Talent Scholarships to students with impressive academic performance and notable achievements in various fields. The scholarship targets individuals whose goals match the university’s values: integrity, all-rounded development, lifelong learning, and positive social impact.

Students who have demonstrated excellence in one or more of the following areas are eligible to apply for the scholarship:

Outstanding Academic Performance

- Students must have achieved top academic results ("Excellent" GPA and "Good" conduct or higher) over all three years of high school. They should show outstanding learning ability through strong academic records, meaningful study projects, or recognized academic achievements.

- Applicants who have received any of the following awards or achievements will be given additional points during the application review process, based on the level of recognition:

+ Winners or medalists in international academic competitions, national academic excellence contests, or national-level science and technology contests within the past three years;

+ First, Second, Third, or Consolation Prize winners in provincial- or centrally-administered city-level academic competitions within the past three years;

+ Members of national or international competition teams (academic Olympiads or national science and technology contests);

+ Students from specialized or gifted high schools who have maintained “Excellent” academic results and “Good” or higher conduct ratings throughout three years of high school

Language Proficiency

Students who hold an international English language certificate with a minimum IELTS score of 4.5 (or equivalent) will receive additional points for language competency in their scholarship application, based on the overall band score.

In addition to English, students with certificates in other foreign languages (no minimum proficiency level required) will be awarded bonus points in the scholarship evaluation process.

Note: Language certificates must remain valid until at least June 30, 2025.

Outstanding Achievements in Various Fields

- Students with talents and achievements in the arts — such as winning awards or medals in professional international or national competitions in singing, dancing, music, fine arts, or other artistic disciplines within the past 4 years — or receiving prizes in provincial/city-level talent contests organized by reputable entities, or having artistic talents/activities with positive influence in the community, are eligible for additional consideration.

- Students with talents and outstanding achievements in sports — such as winning awards or medals in professional international or national competitions within the past 4 years, or receiving awards in provincial/city-level athletic competitions during the same time frame, or participating in national teams competing in official sports events recognized and approved by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism — are also eligible.

- Students with achievements or projects in scientific research — such as award-winning research topics/projects in student science competitions at the provincial/city level or higher, or scientific articles published in domestic or international journals or conference proceedings — will be given recognition.

- Students with achievements or projects in entrepreneurship — such as receiving awards in start-up competitions from provincial/city level and above, winning medals in ASEAN or international vocational skills contests as officially nominated by the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs within the past 3 years, or presenting outstanding ideas, projects, or professional portfolios — will also be considered.

Community Activities

Students with outstanding records or projects in community service — such as excellent performance in youth or social organizations at the provincial/city level, or holding key roles in initiatives that generate positive social impact and have been recognized — are eligible for additional points in the scholarship evaluation.

Portfolio Submission

The personal portfolio is not a compulsory component of the Talent Scholarship application. However, students who submit a well-prepared portfolio demonstrating strong personal capabilities may be awarded extra points during the assessment.

There is no limitation on the format of the portfolio (video, document, presentation, etc.).

If submitting a video, applicants should provide a clip of no more than 3 minutes, introducing themselves and showcasing their strengths or notable achievements. The content, style, and language of the video are entirely flexible.
