Van Lang University Launches the "Million Green Trees for the National Environment" Campaign

In order to launch the community campaign "Million Green Trees for the National Environment," on the afternoon of December 29, 2024, Van Lang University collaborated with the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment (VACNE), the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, the Department of Education and Training, and the HCMC Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment to organize the closing ceremony of the "For the National Green Environment 2024" program.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu, President of Van Lang University, shared the university’s commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development.

Speaking about environmental protection activities, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu, President of Van Lang University, stated: "Van Lang University is proud to be a pioneer in promoting environmental activities. The university has implemented many practical programs such as collecting and recycling old clothes, organizing sustainable development seminars, and integrating sustainable development education into the training program. A green environment is not just a slogan, but the foundation for the life and sustainable development of every nation. This is not just a story for today, but a commitment for future generations."

The "Living Green" talk show honors the trend of green, healthy living.

Among the activities of the program, the "Living Green" talk show attracted the attention of many students with the participation of three speakers: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu - President of Van Lang University, Dr. Tran Van Mieu - Vice President of VACNE, Head of the "For the National Green Environment" program; Ms. Ngo Nguyen Ngoc Thanh – Deputy Director, Environmental Protection Bureau, Department of Natural Resources and Environment of HCMC. The discussion topics revolved around the benefits of green living, the definition of green living, and how to form green living habits… creating a meaningful playground, honoring the trend of green, healthy living.

During the event, attendees participated in the ceremonial launch of the "Million Green Trees for the National Environment" campaign, contributing to the government's project to plant one billion green trees. At this significant event held at Van Lang University, delegates offered incense to the National Ancestors and planted green trees within the campus, spreading the love for nature and raising environmental awareness.

Following the campaign launch, VACNE will plant 1,000 green trees, integrating environmental advocacy and action activities at 20 schools in Binh Thanh district nominated by the HCMC Department of Education and Training. The campaign will then be expanded and implemented at all schools across the city.
