To create a specialized academic forum and promote international research collaboration, on January 7, 2026, the Science and Technology Advanced Institute (STAI) – Van Lang University organized the Asia Computational Materials Design Workshop (ACMD 2026), with the participation of leading experts from Osaka University (Japan), including Prof. Kazunori Sato, Prof. Tamio Oguchi, and Prof. Yoshitada Morikawa—renowned figures in computational materials design.

In her opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu, President of Van Lang University, emphasized that hosting ACMD 2026 reflects the University’s vision of building an educational environment closely aligned with practical research. In the context of increasingly complex scientific challenges, forums such as ACMD 2026 play a critical role in bridging advanced training with modern technological applications.

The event not only expands international collaboration networks but also provides opportunities for faculty members and students to access global academic standards, preparing them for professional workplaces.

The workshop focuses on the topic “KKR-CPA Technique and Its Applications in Functional Catalyst Design,” along with a hands-on session led by Prof. Kazunori Sato. This offers researchers an opportunity to engage with modern design thinking and advanced computational techniques, moving beyond the limitations of purely theoretical approaches.
