Van Lang University hosts the 2025 Ho Chi Minh City Student Swimming Championship

On the morning of 17/05/2025, the Ho Chi Minh City Student Swimming Championship 2025 was co-organized by Van Lang University and the HCMC Aquatic Sports Association, attracting approximately 150 student swimmers from 17 universities and colleges across Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces.

This was the first time the student swimming championship was held at such a large and professional scale in Ho Chi Minh City, opening a new direction for the swimming movement in the university and college sector. More than just a professional sports playground, the tournament carried special meaning, celebrating the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh and the 30th anniversary of Van Lang University.

In his opening speech, Dr. Vo Van Tuan - Party Committee Secretary and Standing Vice President of Van Lang University - emphasized: "The 2025 Ho Chi Minh City Student Swimming Championship is not only a professional sports playground but also a meaningful message about raising awareness in schools regarding the role of swimming, especially in drowning prevention - a pressing concern in society." Dr. Vo Van Tuan also affirmed that this was an opportunity for students to exchange, learn, demonstrate integrity and solidarity, spread healthy values, build resilience, and foster a positive lifestyle for the younger generation.

Immediately after the opening ceremony, athletes competed in 8 individual events including 50m Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke, and Freestyle for both men and women, along with the 4x50m Freestyle Relay (2 men, 2 women). In the pool, sportsmanship and enthusiasm created impressive performances, offering spectators thrilling moments.

After 3 hours of intense and exciting competition, the winners found their deserving champions. The swimmers brought glory to themselves and their institutions in both individual and relay events.

In his closing speech, Mr. Tran Manh Ut - President of the HCMC Aquatic Sports Association - expressed his admiration and appreciation for Van Lang University's hosting efforts, especially its investment in modern swimming facilities, providing the best conditions for athletes to compete. He emphasized that the tournament successfully achieved its goal of creating a healthy and meaningful playground for students to exchange and learn, thereby further spreading the swimming movement and raising awareness of drowning prevention - a vital survival skill.

The 2025 Ho Chi Minh City Student Swimming Championship concluded successfully, strongly spreading awareness of survival skills and drowning prevention among the student community.
