Van Lang University Hosts the 2025 Ho Chi Minh City Open Student Chess Clubs Championship
On December 7, 2025, Van Lang University hosted the 2025 Ho Chi Minh City Open Student Chess Clubs Championship. The prestigious intellectual sporting event attracted more than 220 athletes from 25 clubs representing universities and colleges across Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces and cities.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Vo Van Tuan, Standing Vice President of Van Lang University and Head of the Championship Steering Committee, emphasized: “The image of students competing today represents the true value of intellect—and that is what Van Lang University seeks to promote. VLU believes in the spirit of continuous self-improvement and constant self-challenge, accompanying students so that every potential can shine. This chess championship strongly embodies the VLU identity: healthy competition through intellect and the promotion of holistic development.”
The 2025 Ho Chi Minh City Open Student Chess Clubs Championship unfolded with intense, fair, and dramatic competition. In order to promote strategic thinking and enhance students’ mental well-being, the Organizing Committee presented awards to outstanding individuals and teams, recognizing their thorough preparation and strong determination.
