Van Lang University Faculty of Dentistry Learns from Australia’s Advanced Dental Education Model

On March 4, 2025, the Faculty of Dentistry at Van Lang University organized the “Dental Education” seminar, led by Prof. Dr. Ngo Chi Hien, to help lecturers understand Australian accreditation standards for dental and integrate them into the programs.

With years of teaching experience in Australia, Prof. Dr. Ngo Chi Hien provided a comprehensive perspective on the Australian advanced dental education system. Australia is home to some of the world's leading educational institutions, such as the University of Melbourne, the University of Sydney, and the University of Queensland. Its training programs are renowned for seamlessly combining theory and practice. Especially clinical activities at clinics, hospitals, and medical centers that equip students with the necessary skills to be accustomed to a professional environment. The speaker emphasized that a program that obtains international accreditation of other universities is a key factor in developing highly qualified dentists with global career opportunities.

The seminar attracted the participation of many staff and lecturers of the Van Lang University Faculty of Dentistry.

In Australia, the accreditation standards of the Australian Dental Council (ADC) are highly evaluated. ADC sets high accreditation standards that encompass both theoretical knowledge and practical skills to ensure training quality and deliver safe, effective dental care to the community. Recognition from the Australian Dental Council offers a significant competitive advantage and enhances career prospects worldwide.

The Administrators and the Board of Directors of the Faculty of Dentistry pay significant attention to the accreditation standards of the training program of the Australian Dental Council.

Van Lang University Faculty of Dentistry is actively preparing to apply for ADC accreditation, aiming to strengthen international cooperation. During the seminar, The Administrators and the Board of Directors of the Faculty of Dentistry engaged in in-depth discussions with Prof. Dr. Ngo Chi Hien on the implementation process. If recognized by the ADC, the faculty will have more opportunities to exchange students and lecturers, as well as joint training programs with prestigious Australian universities. On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Ngo Chi Hien accepted an invitation to become an advisor and visiting lecturer for the Faculty of Dentistry. With a distinguished reputation and a lot of experience in research and education, Prof. Dr. Ngo Chi Hien is expected to bring invaluable lessons to lecturers and students at Van Lang University.

Prof. Dr. Ngo Chi Hien is a globally recognized expert in dentistry, former President and Dean of the Faculty at the University of Western Australia’s Dental School, and former Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at Kuwait University and the University of Sharjah (UAE). He has also been a visiting lecturer at renowned universities such as the University of Queensland (Australia), the National University of Singapore (Singapore), Thammasat University (Thailand), and the Universiti Malaya (Malaysia), etc.

Prof. Dr. Ngo Chi Hien has extensive experience in curriculum development and international accreditation and has made significant contributions to Vietnam’s dental development and global integration.
