Van Lang University aims to develop a community of well-trained and experienced lecturers through knowledge sharing with experts and frequent internal training sessions.
From November 26 to December 11, 2023, the Institute of Computational Science and Artificial Intelligence (COSARI) organized two internal training sessions to update information for VLU lecturers and staff: the "Introduction and Basic Practice in Data Analysis and Artificial Intelligence with RapidMiner Software" workshop and the "Experience in developing research teams." workshop.
The "Introduction and Basic Practice in Data Analysis and Artificial Intelligence with RapidMiner Software" workshop
Altair RapidMiner is a data analysis and artificial intelligence (AI) platform that facilitates efficient data analysis, model building, and other data analysis and machine learning-related tasks. Following the MOU signed in September 2023 with Altair Engineering SDN, BHD (a subsidiary of Altair Engineering Inc., USA, Van Lang University organized several workshops to help researchers and lecturers familiarize themselves with this platform.
Dr. Nguyen Trang Thao, a researcher and member of the Applied Mathematics and Industry Lab at the Institute of Computational Science and Artificial Intelligence, provided detailed guidance on important topics, including reading and analyzing data, building and evaluating basic AI models, and deploying new observation models. According to Dr. Thao, RapidMiner is not only a powerful tool for data analysis and machine learning but also brings many benefits to education. The user-friendly interface allows lecturers to easily use it without requiring in-depth programming knowledge. Additionally, hands-on data practice, model building, and hypothesis testing not only save time but also enhance the practicality of knowledge..
The Workshop “Experience in developing research teams”
Regarding his 25-year experience in establishing research teams, Assoc.Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thoi Trung emphasizes the necessity of building and developing research groups. This model not only creates significant scientific value and enhances VLU's prestige in the academic field, but also helps each researcher to fully exploit their potential. He also introduced team-building techniques and learning skills in different environments, aimed at fostering the sustainable development of research groups.
During the workshop, the faculty members received information on the legal framework for the establishment and development of strong research teams according to Government Decree No. 109/2022/ND-CP on scientific and technological activities in higher education institutions. Additionally, the Institute of Computational Science and Artificial Intelligence provided detailed support and incentive policies for lecturers and researchers participating in research teams, issued by Van Lang University. Dr. Le Van Ut emphasized the importance of expanding specialized human resources, actively connecting with experts to exchange knowledge and enhance research experience in the field.
Dr. Le Van Ut, Chairman's Assistant on Scientific Research, expressed the desire of Van Lang University and the Institute of Computational Science and Artificial Intelligence regarding cooperation and support for departments and institutes in developing research teams. This collaboration aims to enhance the quantity and quality of scientific research activities at Van Lang University in the future.
Aiming to develop a team of experienced, knowledgeable researchers, lecturers and staff, the Institute of Computational Science and Artificial Intelligence will continue to collaborate with various institutions to organize numerous workshops and training courses on a variety of topics in the coming period. It is hoped that through these events, the Van Lang community will continue to expand, constantly update their knowledge, access technology, and enhance professional skills for research and education.
