Van Lang University Course 25 Biotechnology students’ graduation thesis defense

On August 31, 2023, the Faculty of Applied Technology of Van Lang University organized a graduation thesis defense for Course 25 Biotechnology students. Dr. Nguyen Huu Hung, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Applied Technology and Ph.D. Vu Thi Quyen - Head of the Biotechnology major are chairmen of the two graduation thesis defense panels.

Speaking at the thesis defense, Dr. Nguyen Huu Hung, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Applied Technology of Van Lang University said that accomplishing the graduation thesis is a memorable final step for the students, signifying the official closing of their four-year learning journey at Van Lang. “I hope that with unwavering efforts, the students will achieve the desired results, complete their learning goals, and be more confident about the journey ahead.” - Dr. Nguyen Huu Hung shared.

With the support of lecturers, Course 25 Biotechnology students have conducted research on scientific topics rich in practical value related to their majors and applying and summarizing the knowledge gained during the learning process well.

At panel 1, students Phung Thanh Ngoc, Trieu Nguyen Bao Ngoc, and Nguyen Vinh Phuc presented the topics "Research on the antibacterial and antioxidant properties of Perionyx Excavatus," "Research on the antibiotic properties of Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumonia bacteria from fresh shrimp samples in wholesale markets in Ho Chi Minh City," and “Research on the effects of Neem leaf powder and wood vinegar on dragon fruit lifespan after harvest.”

At panel 2, students Tran Thi Cam Phuong, Ho Thi Hieu Hien, and Truong Chau Ngoc in turn presented to the committees their research results on the topic "Effects of organic compounds on Ludisia discolor (Anoectochilus formosanus Hayata)’s growth and development in vitro.", "Effects of organic compounds on Ludisia discolor (Anoectochilus roxburghii Lindl) growth and development in vitro" and "Initial research on the production of Microbial inoculants applied in the treatment of agricultural organic solid waste.”

In general, the topics received positive feedback from the panel. The students demonstrated their unwavering commitment to learning, researching, and presenting in a confident, coherent, and convincing manner.. The research process not only produces valuable scientific results but also allows students to summarize what they have learned and improve their research skills and experience.

Especially, the appearance of representatives from businesses cooperating with the Faculty of Applied Technology at the thesis defense brought an objective look to the students' research, helping them grasp and understand and closely follow the practical needs of the industry. At the same time, allowing students to demonstrate their abilities to employers is one of the ways the Faculty effectively connects students and recruiting businesses.
