Van Lang University Completes Official Accreditation Survey for Seven Undergraduate Programs

From September 23 to 26, 2025, the External Evaluation Delegation from the Saigon Centre for Educational Quality Accreditation (CEA SAIGON) conducted the official survey to serve the external quality assessment of 07 undergraduate programs at Van Lang University, including: Medical Biotechnology, Food Technology, Film and Television Directing, Acting for Stage and Screen, Film and Television, Medical Laboratory Science, Data Science, and Mechatronics Engineering.

The survey results reflect VLU’s comprehensive quality assurance efforts—from academic programs to infrastructure.

During the evaluation process, the expert delegation carried out a wide range of activities, including reviewing evidence documents, meeting with academic councils, interviewing lecturers, staff, students, alumni, and employers, and inspecting the university’s facilities, classrooms, and laboratories. All activities were meticulously conducted to ensure the results accurately reflect the actual quality of training at Van Lang University. This crucial survey is not only to measure compliance with national accreditation standards but also to suggest directions for future improvement.

The external evaluation was implemented based on 11 standards and 50 criteria set by the Ministry of Education and Training. Throughout the process, CEA SAIGON experts conducted on-site observations, analyzed evidence, and interviewed relevant stakeholders to verify compliance with the accreditation framework. The results will help the university identify our strengths, receive recommendations for improvement, and reaffirm our commitment to academic quality. This is an essential step that reinforces VLU’s dedication to quality assurance while laying the foundation for integration and sustainable development in higher education.

The expert delegation recognized several remarkable strengths. Van Lang University’s academic programs have clear objectives closely aligned with social needs and labor market demands. The faculty members are highly regarded for their expertise, professionalism, and dedication. Students benefit from a friendly learning environment, diverse study opportunities, and a comprehensive support system. The university also maintains strong connections with businesses and alumni, thereby expanding internship and employment opportunities for graduates.

Dr. Nguyen Thi Minh Hong emphasized that the mechanism of listening to and collecting feedback from multiple stakeholders is an effective foundation for the continuous refinement and improvement of academic quality.

Sharing her insights on strengths and recommendations, Dr. Nguyen Thi Minh Hong, Chairwoman of the University Council of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education and Head of the External Evaluation Delegation, commended VLU’s efforts in building a robust quality assurance system. She praised the university’s mechanism for gathering feedback from multiple stakeholders, which enables regular program review and adjustments. She also highlighted that the university’s continuous assessment of learning support services and the application of research outcomes in teaching have significantly enhanced the effectiveness of teaching and learning.

Dr. Duong Mong Ha acknowledged VLU's spirit of openness and willingness to learn, affirming that these recommendations will be a stepping stone for the university to move closer to regional and international standards.

Representing the expert delegation, Dr. Duong Mong Ha, Director of the CEA SAIGON, highly appreciated Van Lang University’s cooperation throughout the evaluation process: “We acknowledge the university’s thorough preparation and open-minded spirit. The recommendations from this survey will help VLU continue to refine the programs and progress toward regional and international standards. This marks a meaningful milestone that recognizes current achievements and shapes the university’s pathway toward sustainable development in the future.”

In the coming period, Van Lang University will build upon the official report from the expert delegation to further implement improvement plans—updating academic programs, strengthening scientific research, expanding cooperation with enterprises and international partners, and enhancing faculty quality as well as the student learning experience.
