On the morning of March 15, 2024, Van Lang University collaborates with the University of South Queensland (Australia) to host a Transnational Education Seminar called "Fostering Research Partnerships, Collaborations, Training Connections, and Joint PhD Supervision," aimed to facilitate the exchange of knowledge on research collaboration and enhance partnerships among educational institutions in Vietnam. This seminar was a part of the Australian Government-funded Continuing Leadership in Transnational Education to Achieve Effective and Sustainable Development (TNE) project through the Australian Alumni Support Fund managed by the Aus4Skills Program.
The seminar featured:
Additionally, more than 50 lecturers from various universities and training institutes actively participated, along with over 100 lecturers, school leaders, researchers, and personnel responsible for international cooperation and quality assurance from higher education institutions and education centers nationwide, who joined the seminar online.
Participating in the Vietnam-Australia Higher Education Cooperation Forum, a part of the official visit to Australia, and participation in the Special High-Level Conference commemorating the 50th anniversary of ASEAN-Australia relations, Van Lang University has proposed cooperation with Australian universities on sustainable development in many fields, research, application of AI and development of new technologies. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu represented the Vietnamese delegation to outline Vietnamese universities' strategic directions and research prowess. At the same time, a representative from Van Lang University engaged Australian counterparts in discussions surrounding the innovative Transnational Education (TNE) model. This pioneering approach fosters collaboration between Vietnamese and international educational institutions, offering students enrolled in TNE programs the opportunity to earn degrees from both domestic and overseas universities.
With the commitments Van Lang University made at the Vietnam - Australia Higher Education Cooperation Forum and the Transnational Education Seminar, representatives of Van Lang University and guests discussed the future development direction of the Transnational Education (TNE) model, both within Van Lang University and on a broader scale within Vietnam.
Under the guidance of Prof. Ren Yi – Vice President of the University of Southern Queensland, the seminar focused on various aspects including international perspectives on research management and training, managing research environments in both Australia and Vietnam, analyzing research case studies to establish research directions, and addressing research ethics and integrity.
The TNE education model offers many advantages such as: providing access to international education, allowing students to pursue advanced programs and meet international standards without needing to study abroad, and being more cost-effective than traditional full-time study abroad programs. Moreover, TNE degrees are widely recognized globally, opening up various working opportunities for graduates.
The seminar on Transnational Education offers valuable insights and hands-on knowledge, fostering global collaboration in the realm of education, with a special emphasis on the TNE model. This seminar is the next step in the implementation of the TNE model in Vietnam, contributing to improving the quality of education and training and creating high-quality human resources for the country.
