From October 28 to November 1, 2024, the "Belt & Road Forum on Scientific and People-to-People Exchanges and High-quality Development" took place at the University of Science and Technology Beijing. The forum attracted representatives from 20 universities and international organizations across 16 countries. This event provided an opportunity for educational institutions, experts, and researchers to discuss and promote strategies for scientific and technological collaboration and cultural exchanges among people.
The opening ceremony was attended by senior leaders from the University of Science and Technology Beijing, along with various leaders from prestigious universities in Malaysia, Thailand, Kazakhstan, Egypt, France, Vietnam, and other countries. The forum featured main and specialized seminars where scientists and educational leaders presented research on human resource development, the internationalization of education, and scientific and technological innovation.
The specialized seminars organized by the institutes and member universities of the Beijing University of Science and Technology provided opportunities for multidimensional academic exchange, sharing experiences and research achievements in fields such as energy engineering, environment, and materials.
Van Lang University, as a partner of Beijing University of Science and Technology, participated in the main forum and presented at the "Belt and Road Symposium on Energy and Environment." At the seminar, Dr. Huynh Tan Loii, representing the Faculty of Environment at Van Lang University, presented his research titled “Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Septic Systems in Vietnam,” which addressed the issue of greenhouse gas emissions from septic systems in Vietnam. His presentation captured significant attention from the delegates, especially as the countries participating in the forum are striving for sustainable development goals.
In addition to research on greenhouse gas emissions, representatives from Van Lang University also shared the university's ongoing efforts and commitments to sustainable development (SDGs). These initiatives include projects aimed at reducing environmental impact, developing sustainable education programs, and community initiatives to raise awareness about environmental protection. Van Lang's activities in the SDG field not only contribute to building a sustainable community in Vietnam but also reflect the university's commitment to supporting global goals.
Through international collaboration and participation in the "Belt and Road" forum, Van Lang University continues to solidify its position, expand its academic network, and enhance research quality, creating a solid foundation for sustainable development projects in Vietnam and the region.
Representing Van Lang University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Kim Oanh – Member of the University Council, Head of the Scientific Research Development Office, Dean of the Faculty of Environment – and Dr. Huynh Tan Loi held discussions with Prof. Dr. Zhang Dawei, Director of the Office of International Collaboration and Exchange at the University of Science and Technology Beijing. The two sides explored potential collaborative programs, including international programs (2+2, 3+1), scientific research cooperation, and student and faculty exchanges. The meeting was conducted in a spirit of positive collaboration, paving the way for future educational and research development between the two institutions.
