Van Lang University Achieves FIBAA Quality Seal for Institutional Accreditation

On March 6, 2024, in the 13th meeting, FIBAA Accreditation and Certification Committee officially awarded the FIBAA Quality Seal to Van Lang University (VLU). This recognition of quality by FIBAA, one of the most reputable international accreditation organizations, reflects VLU’s ongoing commitment to enhancing quality standards and bolstering its position both regionally and globally.

In the academic year 2022-2023, VLU initiated the accreditation process in accordance with FIBAA standards. Initially, the University compiled a comprehensive self-evaluation report at the institutional level, which was then submitted for assessment by FIBAA expert panel. Following that, in September 2023, VLU welcomed the FIBAA expert panel for an on-site visit. Throughout this visit, the experts conducted separate interviews with various stakeholders, including the University’s leaders, managers of functional units, faculty members, support staff, students, and alumni. These interviews aimed to comprehensively assess all aspects of VLU’s activities. All sessions were conducted with a commitment to principles of transparency, honesty, objectivity, and inclusion of relevant subjects, in full compliance with FIBAA regulations.

FIBAA is the leading international accreditation organization for higher education institutions, using European accreditation standards. FIBAA Quality Seal is widely recognized worldwide. The FIBAA accreditation process is notably rigorous, requiring universities to meet high standards in strategic planning, quality management, faculty quality, scientific research, student support services, infrastructure, study programs, and the practical values brought to students.

Van Lang University was recognized for its quality with 100% of the criteria meeting the quality requirements, with nearly 50% of the criteria exceeding the quality requirements. Particularly, the University has 2 criteria rated as exceptional, the highest level of quality that no other university was recognized by the FIBAA Accreditation and Certification Committee until the end of 2023.

In the "Strategic Objectives" criteria, where VLU is rated as Exceptional, the expert panel noted that the University not only sets strategic objectives in line with its mission and vision but also pursues a continuous improvement approach. These objectives serve as a foundation for the University departments and each individual to develop their own strategies. Additionally, the experts verified that the strategic objectives of VLU are fulfilled through annual work plans, which are reflected in the key performance indicators (KPIs) of the University overall and of each unit for a certain academic year.

During the assessment procedure, the panel was able to gain an impression of VLU’s outstanding quality management strategy, which takes account of the requirements and objectives arising from the University’s profile. The panel noted a very comprehensive and detailed approach that ends in a personal development plan for every individual. This also reveals the quality culture developed at VLU, in which the quality management strategy has trickled down to every single university member who knows which individual steps need to be taken. During the various discussions, the panel also learnt about VLU’s quality culture, in which further development is at the forefront and everyone is dedicated to it. These are the assessments of the expert panel regarding the criterion "Quality Management Strategy," which is rated as outstanding for Van Lang University.

Being accredited by FIBAA has affirmed that Van Lang University meets international quality standards. Overall, the expert panel had a very positive impression of the University. The experts noted that the quality management system is a strength of the University, where the quality culture deeply impacts all members of the University. VLU has truly built a strong mission statement, providing a clear vision of the University's direction and the necessary steps to achieve that position.

Receiving FIBAA Quality Seal according to European standards and the objective evaluations of international higher education accreditation experts are the clearest evidence of recognizing Van Lang University’s relentless efforts in its continuous strategic direction towards international integration and comprehensive upgrading to meet international standards, realizing the vision of becoming “one of the most admired young universities in Asia by 2030.”
