Two student groups from the Oriental Studies (Korean Studies major) and Korean Language programs made a remarkable impact at the 12th K-Speech Korean Speech Contest, outshining numerous other teams.
With persuasive speeches on two challenging topics, the students from Course 27 and 28 in the Korean Language and Oriental Studies (Korean Studies major) at Van Lang University secured two third-place team awards and one individual consolation prize at the 12th K-Speech Korean Speech Contest organized by Ho Chi Minh City University of Education.

Under the guidance of lecturers, the students diligently practiced for two months to improve their language skills, learn about Korean culture, and craft their best speeches. Besides the team competition, two students, Dinh Nguyen Ai Nhi from Course 27 in Oriental Studies and Tran Le Kieu My from Course 28 in the Korean Language, also participated in the individual category with speeches on the topics "Hallyu Culture and Peace on the North Korea" and "Let's Eliminate Imbalances in Cultural Exchange and Move Towards a Genuine Partnership."
The K-Speech Korean Speech Contest is an annual event organized by Ho Chi Minh City University of Education in collaboration with the Korean Speech Association in Vietnam, the Korean Peaceful Unification Advisory Council in Vietnam, and Life Plaza magazine. This event provides an opportunity for students from southern universities passionate about the Korean language to showcase their language skills and cultural understanding, while also learning and sharing experiences, fostering friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Korea.
In addition to the 2024 K-Speech Korean Speech Contest, VLU students have also won numerous awards in other competitions for young people passionate about Korean language and culture.
On May 19, 2024, at the King Sejong Korean Speech and Writing Contest organized by King Sejong Center Ho Chi Minh 6, student Dinh Ngoc Bao Thoa from Course 27, Faculty of Korean Language and Culture, won second place in the Writing category.
On April 18, 2024, a team of students, Vuong Bao Thy (Course 27), Nguyen Ngoc Kieu (Course 27), Huynh Ngoc Khan Dai (Course 27), and Vo Anh Thu (Course 29) from the Korean Language program, impressively secured second place in the Quiz on Korea competition, leaving a mark for Van Lang University in the international arena. This competition, organized annually by Monash University (Australia) in an online format, requires teams to have Korean language proficiency, knowledge of Korean culture, and be quick-witted to answer a variety of questions related to Korea in the shortest time possible.
On April 18, 2024, a group of Korean Language students including Vuong Bao Thy (Course 27), Nguyen Ngoc Kieu (Course 27), Huynh Ngoc Khan Dai (Course 27), and Vo Anh Thu (Course 29) won the runner-up prize in the Quiz on Korea competition, marking Van Lang University's impression on the international competition stage.
This is an annual online event organized by Monash University (Australia), requiring competing teams to be proficient in Korean language, knowledgeable about Korean culture, and quick enough to overcome diverse sets of questions related to Korea in various fields within the shortest time possible.
The achievements of Van Lang students in prestigious national and international language competitions demonstrate the quality of the university's education, the dedication of its staff and faculty, and the relentless efforts of the students themselves. These awards, recognition, and experiences gained from the competitions will help the students become more confident in their career development, pursue their passions, and serve as a stepping stone for further successes awaiting Van Lang talents in the future.
