Outperforming numerous contestants from different countries, Nguyen Thi Truc Quynh, a Class 28 student from the Faculty of Korean Language and Culture, Van Lang University, who is currently an exchange student at Suncheon National University (South Korea), earned distinction with the Future Talent Award at the Sejong Korean Speaking Contest 2025.
This is a prestigious Korean speaking contest organized by The Monday Times, open to Korean language learners worldwide. The platform attracts many international contestants with fluent Korean proficiency, insightful speech content, and persuasive presentation skills, offering valuable opportunities for cultural exchange, learning, and global networking.

In the online final round, with dedicated support from Dr. Shin A Young and Ms. Mai Xuan Huyen, a lecturer from the Faculty of Korean Language and Culture, Nguyen Thi Truc Quynh, a Class 28 Korean Language student, proudly brought home the Future Talent Award at the Sejong Korean Speaking Contest 2025.

Choosing the topic “한국어 배우게 된 특별한 이유” (translated as: “The Special Reason I Chose to Learn Korean”), Quynh centered her speech on her journey of encountering the Korean language through films, which gradually nurtured her passion and determination to pursue the language. Through persistent effort and the dedicated support of lecturers at Van Lang University, Quynh had the opportunity to visit the country she has loved since childhood and to discover a more mature version of herself.

Truc Quynh’s achievement at the Sejong Korean Speaking Contest 2025 is a source of pride for the Van Lang University community. Sharing a message with fellow students pursuing Korean studies, Quynh said, “I feel truly fortunate to have chosen the Faculty of Korean Language and Culture. Our lecturers have provided me with many opportunities to apply my knowledge and grow more confident in my abilities. Don’t let Korean become a pressure—let it be the key that opens new opportunities.”
The Faculty of Korean Language and Culture at Van Lang University currently offers two intensive orientations: Korean Translation & Interpretation and Korean Language Teaching. Beyond academic training, the Faculty takes the lead in Vietnam–Korea cultural and literary exchange activities, providing students with hands-on experiences to develop public speaking skills and intercultural communication competence. By effectively applying the knowledge and skills they have accumulated, VLU’s students have consistently achieved outstanding results in foreign language speaking competitions over the years, affirming their confidence and capacity for international integration.
