Van Lang’s Faculty of Environment welcomes Course 29 freshmen

On September 20, 2023, Van Lang University's Faculty of Environment organized an Introductory Ceremony to Course 29 freshmen that combines orientation day at the start of the new school year, to summarize information and share learning experiences, and conduct thesis and graduation consideration for Course 26, 27, 28 Environmental Engineering Technology students.

To help new students quickly get acquainted with the new learning environment, and meet and exchange with lecturers, alumni, and fellow students, every year, Van Lang University's training units organize the Introductory Ceremony to welcome new students with a variety of exciting activities, kick-starting a new energetic school year.

The Course 29 Introductory Ceremony, which included orientation activities at the Faculty level and the graduation internship assignment to Course 26 students, provided an opportunity for students to meet lecturers, get their questions answered, and prepare for the new school year.

With the formation and development process associated with the Van Lang brand, the qualified training program is affirmed by many generations of lecturers and students who continue to make certain marks and achievements in technical expertise, and the Faculty of Environment is a pioneer unit in Van Lang with 03 training levels including an undergraduate program in Environmental Engineering Technology; Master's program in Natural Resources and Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, and Doctoral program in Environmental Science. This year's addition to the Faculty of Environment staff is Professor. Chettiyappan Visvanathan, advisor of the Faculty of Environment, Honorary Professor of the Asian Institute of Technology - AIT, Thailand, top 1% professor in the world, and MSc. Lam Tan Qui, business lecturer, General Director of Van Lang Industrial Waste Treatment & Environmental Consulting Company Limited.

To begin, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Kim Oanh, Head of the Faculty of Environment, informed new students of Van Lang University's mission and vision for the future development journey. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Kim Oanh is proud of the Van Lang student community, which always preserves and promotes the three core values "Morality - Will - Creativity." She hopes that the new generation of the Faculty of Environment will continue the good tradition, adhering to the 9 Van Lang cultural principles: always upright, responsible, positive, proactive, constantly improving toward results, thoroughness and inheritance, discipline, and cooperation.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Kim Oanh, Head of the Faculty of Environment, expects that future generations of students will continue the tradition of "Morality - Will - Creativity," smoothly complete the study program, and succeed in their future career path.

Attending the program, Van Lang University's Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu shared: "Your generation is distinct from previous ones. You not only need to solve existing environmental problems, but also foresee and prevent future problems using all of your knowledge, abilities, and experience you have learned." The next generation of the Environmental Engineering Technology major will boldly develop themselves, pursue their passion, and contribute greater value to the industry and the community in the future, thanks to the foundation actively formed by the Faculty and Van Lang University.

At the ceremony, lecturers and students of Van Lang’s Faculty of Environment excitedly attended the "Internship Assigning Ceremony". This is an essential mark for students majoring in Environmental Engineering Technology since it motivates students and strengthens the sense of responsibility and connection between thesis instructors and students.

Dr. Nguyen Dang Khoa shared with students many useful experiences and lessons about scientific research activities in 2022 - 2023. Dr. Nguyen Dang Khoa said that scientific research is one of the strengths of the Faculty of Environment. The research topics conducted by the Faculty of Environment's lecturers and students not only tackle laboratory problems but also guide practical solutions to social problems impacting the community. Furthermore, with an expanding network of links and cooperation on both domestic and international scales, there is a community of successful alumni who are always dedicated to working with the organization in the process of nurturing new potentials, Van Lang’s Faculty of Environment will be a promising launching pad for students who wish to develop professionally in this field.

Dr. Nguyen Dang Khoa shares about the research activities of Van Lang University’s Faculty of Environment. 

In recent times, Van Lang University has had many accomplishments in the field of environmental research, including 36 student scientific research projects and 5 research projects conducted by students that received ministry-level science research awards, as well as two student research groups that received the City-level Euréka prize. Recently, the Faculty of Environment honored students Nguyen Vu Huong Giang (Course 27), Nguyen Thi Hong Nhung (Course 26), and Vuong Thuy Hang (Course 27) as three outstanding students for the 2022 - 2023 school year for their achievements, outstanding study and activities in Unions and Associations, actively participating in scientific research, and received the trust of the Faculty of Environment's faculty and students. At the end of last August, students Nguyen Vu Huong Giang, Vuong Thuy Hang, and Nguyen Thanh Nhan (Course 27) excelled in their pursuit of 3/4 full scholarships for the course on sustainable energy conversion for Vietnamese youth, which was organized by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) in collaboration with the Italian Embassy in Vietnam and UNDP Vietnam.

Within the framework of the program, Faculty of Environment lecturers helped new Course 29 students summarize the training program, clarifying the concepts of learning plans for each course, types of modules, and mandatory conditions to register for courses and regulations when studying at Van Lang University. If Course 28 students begin practical lessons and projects implementation and Course 27 is about to enter the stage of specialized and in-depth subjects selection and studies, Course 26 will begin internship and graduation thesis, moving towards the final journey of student life. In 2023, internship tasks assigned to students of Course 26 focus on design, research, and management in the environmental field.
