Twin Sisters Defend Their Master's Thesis in Accounting Together

On the afternoon of May 10, 2025, the Faculty of Accounting and Auditing at Van Lang University successfully held the master’s thesis defense session for Accounting graduate students in the Hoang Sa 1 and Hoang Sa 2 meeting rooms (Building A, Main Campus). Offering post-graduate students the opportunity to present the outcomes of their research after a period of dedicated study and practice, affirming their professional competence and academic thinking.

The defense session featured four academic councils composed of lecturers and experts from Van Lang University (VLU), Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance (UEF), Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH), Van Hien University, and Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade.

This year's theses focused on a variety of practical topics, such as the automation of accounting processes, internal control in financial, insurance and educational organizations, and the application of management accounting in construction enterprises.

A notable highlight of the session was the participation of twin sisters, Nguyen Thi Hong Loan and Nguyen Thi Hong Huyen, who defended their Master's theses together. Although they chose different organizations for their research, they stood by each other throughout the preparation and practice stages of the defense.

Sharing after the defense, both Hong Loan and Hong Huyen expressed their emotions: “We’re very happy and overjoyed today to have successfully defended our Master’s theses.” Hong Loan added: “We didn’t support each other much with the content since our topics followed different directions. But having someone by your side to encourage you during stressful times is the most precious thing.”

Now in their 40 years old, both of them have remained steadfast in pursuing their Master’s degrees, exemplifying the spirit of lifelong learning that Van Lang University strongly promotes. After completing the program, they shared their desire to continue studying further if given the chance, as their passion for knowledge remains undiminished. Their story reflects the beauty of familial bonds, perseverance, and a positive learning spirit, one of the values that VLU proudly embraces and spreads.

The Faculty of Accounting and Auditing at Van Lang University congratulates all graduate students on successfully completing their Master’s journey with commendable results and believes that the new Master’s degree holders will continue to shine in their future careers.
