Training on Design and Implementation of Outcomes-Based Education (OBE) Framework at VLU

From June 7 to June 10, 2022, Van Lang University organized a training course on Applied Approach to Designing and Implementing OBE Framework, which was facilitated by Mr. Johnson Ong Chee Bin (Founding member of AUN-QA Council and Technical Team AUN-QA Expert) and Dr. Nguyen Thi My Ngoc (Deputy Director of the Center for Educational Testing and Quality Assessment, VNU-HCM; AUN-QA assessor).

The training course provides important content on Outcomes-Based Education (OBE), including: (1) Applying the integrated OBE framework in programme design, implementation and evaluation; (2) Selecting appropriate strategies to engage stakeholders in programme design; (3) Applying the principle of constructive alignment to align with the higher education ecosystem including stakeholders’ needs, curriculum, learning outcomes, teaching and learning, and student assessment; (4) Applying the integrated revised Bloom’s and Fink’s Taxonomies in measuring learning outcomes; (5) Selecting appropriate instructional and assessment methods to achieve learning outcomes; (6) Designing student assessment rubrics and marking schemes to achieve learning outcomes; and (7) Evaluating the OBE programme for quality enhancement.

During the training sessions, the lecturers of VLU actively participated in individual assignments and group assignments; joining in discussions and giving suggestions between groups; joining in games that illustrated the lesson content; discussing directly with Mr. Johnson Ong Chee and Dr. Nguyen Thi My Ngoc.
