On March 15, 2025, the second session of the "Unlock Insights: Power BI" seminar series continued to open an engaging and vibrant academic space for exploring the Power BI tool. The event, organized by the International Education Institute of Van Lang University, aimed to provide in-depth knowledge about Power BI for students interested in the field of data analysis.
Ms. Nguyen Dao Yen Lan, Master of Science in Data Science: Business and Management from Tilburg University, shared that Power BI is a tool related to hard skills. Every industry has data that needs to be analyzed. Therefore, students who master this skill, and even earn a Microsoft certification, will have a significant competitive advantage in the labor market.
She explained that Power BI can connect to multiple data sources, allowing users to filter and narrow down data fields, which helps test hypotheses and aggregate data accurately.
During this session, Van Lang students learned about the advantages and limitations of Power BI, its interface, and instructions for using the tool. They explored how to filter and connect data based on specific conditions, as well as key considerations when dealing with large datasets. Additionally, participants had the opportunity to practice handling data related to the logistics industry and Airbnb on the software using their personal computers.
