On the evening of March 24, 2025, the Youth Union and the Student Association of Van Lang University organized a theater program titled "Hung Ca Noc Nang," featuring performances by Khoi Thanh’s group, the runner-up of Van Lang’s Got Talent 2024.
Set in the Southwest in the early 20th century, the play "Hung Ca Noc Nang" depicts the struggle of the Tam Luong family against the oppression of the colonial authorities. Despite being unarmed, the simple and gentle peasant farmers stand resolute in defending their lands.
The staging was meticulously prepared, from the setting and costumes to the sound and lighting effects, creating an authentic and vibrant atmosphere of struggle. The heartfelt acting vividly portrayed the indomitable spirit of the farmers, helping the audience visualize a period of intense national strife. Consequently, the performance was warmly received by the audience present in the auditorium.
Proud to be trusted by the school with the responsibility of handling the play, Khoi Thanh theater group shared, "The actors were very nervous about reenacting a true story." This responsibility also motivated everyone to strive towards creating a grand and precise production for the Van Lang community. Nguyen Cuong, a student of English Language, Class of 27, and the director of the play, hopes "Hung Ca Noc Nang" will convey a strong message about our ancestors' love for the homeland to the modern youth.
"Hung Ca Noc Nang" is a highlight of the Youth Month 2025, demonstrating the proactive spirit and responsibility of the youth towards the nation's development. Through programs that mark historical significance, the Youth Union and Student Association of Van Lang University affirm their pioneering role in preserving traditional values while nurturing awareness and responsibility among students.
