On the morning of May 6, 2025, the Oriental Studies major at Van Lang University (VLU) held an important and productive meeting with a delegation of professors and graduate researchers from National Chengchi University (NCCU), one of the leading universities in Taipei, Taiwan. This meeting opened new prospects for cooperation, particularly international internship opportunities for Oriental Studies students.

The head of the NCCU delegation was Prof. Lam Hoanh Minh (林宏明), Director of the Doctoral and Master's Program in Teaching Chinese Language. Representing the Oriental Studies major at VLU were Dr. Dinh Thi Ly Van, Head of Oriental Studies, and Dr. Pham Dinh Tien, Head of the Chinese Studies Department.

The core of the discussion revolved around extensive conversations on bilateral cooperation potential. Both sides specifically explored the development of academic exchange programs and the establishment of internship opportunities at NCCU for Oriental Studies students at VLU while they are still studying at the university. NCCU representatives expressed keen interest and willingness to welcome VLU students - particularly those focused on in-depth regional studies, including Chinese Studies - allowing them to study and experience NCCU’s dynamic and prestigious academic environment.

Another significant topic discussed was the possibility of signing a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two institutions in the near future. The signing of the MOU is expected to create a strong legal foundation that will facilitate a wider variety of meaningful and practical cooperation programs, including student exchange programs and professional internships.

The meeting and collaboration content were proposed and undertaken by the Chinese Studies Department, which belongs to the Oriental Studies major at Van Lang University. The Oriental Studies major at VLU aims to equip students with interdisciplinary and multidimensional knowledge of the history, culture, society, economy, and politics of countries and Eastern regions, with a strong emphasis on expanding international cooperation to enhance educational quality.

This event marks a crucial step in the efforts to internationalize education within the Oriental Studies major and Van Lang University as a whole. Strengthening ties with prestigious institutions like NCCU not only brings academic value and valuable practical experience to students but also reinforces the university’s standing and quality of education in the context of global integration.
