The "Golden Buffalo of Vietnam" costume, designed by Van Lang University students, is for Mr. Tourism World 2025.

On the evening of February 16, 2025, the Top 30 contestants of the Mr. Tourism World 2025 competition delivered exhilarating and impressive performances in the National Costume segment. Among them, the "Golden Buffalo of Vietnam" costume designed by Nguyen Nhut Duy - a student from the 28th cohort of the Graphic Design major - was showcased by Hung Nguyen - Mr. Tourism World 2025 - in the National Costume competition.
 

"Golden Buffalo of Vietnam" is Nhựt Duy's debut costume, weighing nearly 50kg, inspired by the image of the buffalo – a symbol deeply intertwined with the spiritual life of the Vietnamese people for thousands of years. The buffalo horn symbolizes the crescent moon in agricultural beliefs and many traditional rituals of the Vietnamese people. At the moment of New Year's Eve, people in the past often observed the posture of the buffalo, whether it was lying down or standing, turning its head towards the door or inwards, to predict its fortune in the new year. Buffalo horn is also a symbol of strength, highly valued by many ethnic groups. In the past, people crafted buffalo horns into trumpets to sound the alarm and motivate soldiers before going into battle.

The costume was crafted with sophisticated techniques such as PE foam carving, glitter coating, combined with faux leather embellishments and an integrated LED lighting system. The creativity and meticulous attention to detail earned this costume high praise from the international judging panel. Nhut Duy shared that he felt proud to be able to promote the traditional Vietnamese culture to international friends through this costume. 

At National Costume competitions, Van Lang University's Fine Arts students consistently strive to contribute high-quality designs that embody the spirit and culture of Vietnam, representing the nation in prestigious beauty pageants.
