On the morning of April 19, 2025, Van Lang University welcomed over 800 high school students from 102 schools across Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Ben Tre, Binh Duong, Tay Ninh, Ba Ria – Vung Tau, and Long An to the Open Day event titled “TECH FOR FUTURE.” This event provided an excellent opportunity for students to explore the fields of Engineering and Technology, learn about educational pathways, and understand the future development potential these disciplines offer.
With nearly 30 years of development, Van Lang University’s Engineering – Technology majors have trained over 11,000 engineers, bachelors, and masters, contributing high-quality human resources for local, national, and regional development. The university continues to foster a high-quality educational environment, address societal challenges, and drive positive change for a sustainable future. Scientific research and international collaboration projects are among the outstanding strengths of VLTech, helping elevate the university’s global rankings.
Van Lang University’s academic programs are benchmarked against the world’s top 700 universities, aligning with international standards. Notably, the Environmental Engineering Technology program has achieved quality accreditation by the ASEAN University Network Quality Assurance (AUN-QA). Other programs, including Civil Engineering, Biotechnology, Software Engineering, Information Technology, and Automotive Engineering Technology, meet national accreditation standards. The Logistics and Supply Chain Management program integrates professional certification from the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA). The Software Engineering program is transferred from Carnegie Mellon University, a global leader in Computer Science and Software Engineering. Van Lang is also a pioneer in Vietnam in offering Biotechnology in Medicine and Pharmaceutical Technology, and Aesthetic Technology. The Aeronautical Engineering program is developed according to international ABET standards and is a new discipline responding to future workforce demands.
The university has made significant investments in facilities to enhance the learning experience. VLTech students study at the Main Campus, where two buildings – one for Engineering – Technology and one for the Innovation Hub – are under construction in celebration of the university’s 30th anniversary in 2025. Especially notable is the Practical Training Center in Xuan Duc Industrial Park (District 9), currently under construction with a total area of over 10,000 m², dedicated to Engineering – Technology majors. Over 30 state-of-the-art laboratories are expected to be operational in the upcoming academic year.
The “TECH FOR FUTURE” theme underscores Van Lang University’s vision and belief in the future potential of Engineering – Technology to contribute to a more positive world. Given the tremendous technological achievements witnessed in the past century, Engineering–Technology will undoubtedly remain a key pillar in humanity’s progress.
Van Lang University proudly brings together a distinguished team of professors and doctors in Engineering – Technology, many of whom have studied and trained at world-renowned universities. During the Open Day program, students had the opportunity to hear valuable insights and career guidance from respected experts in the field, including:
Cuong and his teammate Tran Gia Bao won third prize in the national Science and Engineering Fair with their project titled “Research on Bioplastic Production Process from Sweet Potatoes, Bagasse, and Shrimp Shells on cPoly Resin Base,” under the guidance of Van Lang University’s Faculty of Environment.
As part of its effort to nurture young talents, Van Lang University awarded 25 outstanding science projects by students from 16 high schools who had won awards at the national, provincial, and city levels.
In 2025, in addition to general scholarships for outstanding students, Van Lang University officially launched the TECH FOR FUTURE Scholarship to support and accompany students enrolling in over 20 Engineering – Technology programs. New students of Intake 31 will be eligible for scholarships ranging from 10% to 100% of tuition fees for the entire course. The university plans to offer more than 2,000 scholarships this year for TECH students – a strong commitment to sustainable development driven by scientific research and technology.
To welcome students with a passion for technology, lecturers and staff from the VLTECH division prepared a range of unique and impressive experiential booths, showcasing award-winning student projects and technological models, allowing high school students to observe, interact, and gain realistic insights into the academic life of TECH students at Van Lang University.
The Faculty of Information Technology engaged students with exciting games and activities: VR technology, image processing via CNN, Hanoi Tower Game, Picture Flip Game, Capture the Flag, and the Information Tycoon Game.
The Faculty of Civil Engineering offered real-world simulations such as bridge-building challenges, project management tasks, and land surveying.
The Faculty of Automotive Engineering featured a racetrack for mini car racing and fun mini-games about automobiles.
The Faculty of Applied Technology hosted hands-on activities aligned with its four programs: preparing Chitosan-based sanitizers and herbal essential oils (Biotechnology); preparing samples for PCR and electrophoresis (Medical Biotechnology); skin analysis using Janus Pro Hybrid and consultations (Aesthetic Technology); and canned food processing with sensory testing (Food Technology).
The Faculty of Environment displayed water treatment models and 3D plastic printers and guided students through virtual reality experiences, Jartest experiments, and mini-games. In 2025, Van Lang will also launch a new program in Natural Resources and Environmental Management.
The Faculty of Creative Technology attracted students with flycam demonstrations, AR-VR games, and portrait photography.
The Faculty of Mechanical – Electrical and Computer Engineering offering the most diverse programs, organized a wide array of experiences: solar power system development, IoT systems, air conditioner assembly via simulation software, Yanshee robot programming, AI Shooter Game, model aircraft building, and VR space station exploration.
The Department of Logistics displayed a range of robots and automation model projects created by second-year students. In 2025, the department plans to launch a new program in Industrial Systems Engineering.
