Summary of the Academic Exchange Program in Response to World Environment Day

On May 30, 2025, in response to World Environment Day (June 5, 2025), the Institute for Advanced Science and Technology (STAI) – Van Lang University organized an online academic exchange via Microsoft Teams on the theme “Ecology, Biological Resources and Environment.” The program garnered great interest and active participation from a large number of scientists, lecturers, and students from 12 research and educational institutions across the country.

In the opening speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Kim Oanh - Head of the Department of Research Development and Dean of the Faculty of Environment, emphasized the importance of promoting interdisciplinary academic exchange activities, especially in the context of increasingly complex environmental challenges. She also reaffirmed the University’s commitment to orienting training and research toward climate change response, and pledged maximum support for lecturers, researchers, and students to participate in urgent projects that contribute to solving environmental issues in Vietnam.

The academic exchange session featured valuable expert contributions from seven presenters who are leading specialists in ecology, biological resources, and the environment.

The discussion session was vibrant, with many insightful contributions from delegates representing reputable research and education institutions. Notably, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Thanh Huyen – Director of the Center for Medicinal Resources , expressed interest in cooperation for the conservation of medicinal plants. Pharmacist Vo Van Lenh (Lac Hong University) shared ideas for developing traditional remedies into commercial products, opening new directions for traditional medicine. MSc. Pham Thi Thanh Dat proposed a collaboration to collect ecological data in the Central Highlands to build a comprehensive database for research and conservation. In addition, other opinions focused on the development of biological products for plant protection and pest control, aiming toward sustainable agriculture.

The academic exchange served as a platform for knowledge connection and opened many opportunities for interdisciplinary research collaboration, contributing to sustainable environmental solutions in line with the spirit of World Environment Day 2025.
