On February 20, 2025, the Faculty of Information Technology, Van Lang School of Technology (VLTECH) organized a seminar on "Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition: Current Research and Open Issues" with Prof. Hyeonjoon Moon, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Sejong University (South Korea) as the speaker. The program provided students with valuable knowledge and practical perspectives on artificial intelligence in the 4.0 era.
Prof. Hyeonjoon Moon introduced an overview of Artificial Narrow Intelligence (ANI, which can only solve specific tasks), Artificial General Intelligence (AGI, which can complete unfamiliar tasks with human-like processing capabilities), and Artificial Super Intelligence (ASI, which far surpasses human thinking abilities). Prof. Moon stated that today, artificial intelligence has become a useful support tool that helps us evaluate and predict capabilities based on pattern recognition algorithms.
In addition, the speaker also presented detailed information about the practical applications of artificial intelligence: not only stopping at building data retrieval and research models like Chat GPT (OpenAI), DeepSeek (DeepMind) but also meeting the needs of programming, voice conversion, working with text, producing still images/videos... Regarding computer vision and pattern recognition, Prof. Moon gave an example of a complex domain energy analysis framework related to big data based on Explainable AI (XAI).
