On December 29th 2024, the Faculty of Finance and Banking of Van Lang University, in collaboration with KB Securities Vietnam Joint Stock Company (KBVN), Davinci Academy and Ho Chi Minh City Commodity Trading Joint Stock Company (HCT), organized an Investment Seminar titled “Trump 2.0 - Opportunity or Challenge for Stocks and Derivatives in 2025”. The event provided an opportunity for students and investors to learn from industry experts and develop effective strategies for the year 2025.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tien Hoang - Dean of the Faculty of Finance and Banking - shared that if Donald Trump is re-elected as President of the United States, global investment capital flows could be redistributed, posing both opportunities and challenges for the stock and derivatives markets. According to insights from leading experts, the global commodities market is undergoing a period of significant volatility, with unpredictable price fluctuations driven by shifts in demand and geopolitical conflicts. At the same time, the Vietnamese stock market is facing challenges due to declining foreign capital inflows and increasingly cautious investor sentiment.
The 2024 U.S. presidential election is a significant political event that presents Vietnamese investors with a chance to anticipate market trends and capitalize on price fluctuations to optimize profits in the derivatives market. On the stock exchange, global investment flows may be reallocated, creating new opportunities for export-oriented businesses and sectors that benefit from the U.S.’s anti-China trade policies. This shift demands agility and well-planned strategies from stock investors to adapt to the evolving landscape.
During the seminar, representatives from the Ho Chi Minh City Commodity Exchange and KB Securities Vietnam JSC awarded 10 scholarships to students from the Faculty of Finance and Banking, with a total value of 30 million VND. The investment seminar provided practical insights into the overall picture of global financial market trends for 2025- 2026. These “new waves” in stock and derivatives investment offer students the opportunity to learn hands-on strategies, empowering them to confidently seize opportunities and optimize profits amid market fluctuations.
