From August 25 to 31, 2025, faculty members and students from the Faculty of Nursing, Van Lang University (VLU) participated in the International Student Forum and the International Nursing Conference, hosted by Airlangga University (Indonesia) in collaboration with the University of Birmingham (UK), Universiti Brunei Darussalam, and Van Lang University.
Throughout the program, VLU Nursing lecturers and students were immersed in an international academic environment and the cultural life of Indonesia. The delegation engaged in various professional and academic exchange activities, including laboratory practice, seminars on diabetes and community health, visits to hospitals, health centers, and nursing homes, as well as dialogues and knowledge sharing with international students at the academic forum.
At the seminar on Diabetes Mellitus Management in Vietnam, part of the International Student Forum, Dr. Ly Thi Phuong Hoa, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, delivered a presentation titled “Management of Diabetes Mellitus in Vietnam: current situation and future strategies”, contributing expert insights into the challenges and solutions in public health care.
In addition, lecturers and students of the Faculty of Nursing participated in the poster research competition and achieved remarkable results. Ms. Phan Thi Bich Nguyet, Secretary of the Faculty and Valedictorian of Class 25 in Nursing, won Second Prize with her research titled “Variation in glycemic indices by follow-up frequency and associated factors among outpatients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in a Vietnamese hospital”.
At the same time, a group of Class 27 students – Vo Van Viet Anh, Ngo Thuy Quyen, and Nguyen Ngo Gia Uyen – won the award for “Most Popular Poster” with their study “Patients’ knowledge and practices on hypoglycemia prevention in type 2 diabetes mellitus” in the undergraduate category.
The trip to Indonesia not only opened up new avenues for collaboration between Van Lang University and Airlangga University but also fostered global learning and innovation in Nursing education. At the same time, VLU Nursing students enhanced their practical skills and strengthened their research mindset within an international academic environment.
